In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Matthew Boyd (3-4) and Drew Pomeranz (1-3) will toe the mound on Thursday night looking to not only remain consistent in their approach to batters, but, to also utilize the focus needed in which to better put their teams in a position to win.  In Boyd’s last outing, he pitched 7 innings while allow 6 runs on 8 hits in a 7-4 win versus the Blue Jays in which he received the no-decision on 6-2-2018.  Pomeranz, on the other hand, pitched 5 innings while giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks, 1 homer, and 5 strikeouts in a 4-2 road loss versus the Houston Astros on 5-31-2018.

Boyd has not had much experience against the batters for Boston, however, Andrew Benintendi (1-2), Xander Bogaerts (1-4), Jackie Bradley, Jr. (0-3), Brock Holt (1-1), Sandy Leon (1-3), Mitch Moreland (.364 BA on 11 AB), and Eduardo Nunez (0-3) have each had experience and a bit of success against the lefty in the past.  On the other hand, the Tigers’ Nicholas Castellanos (.333 BA on 6 AB), Jose Iglesias (.167 BA on 6 AB), Leonys Martin (.0-7), Victory Martinez (0-8), and James McCann (.167 BA on 6 AB) have had experience facing the left-hander in their respective careers.

Totals Selection: Under

My reason for the prediction :

As I stated in earlier articles, this matchup will be one of the more interesting matchups of the week.  On one hand, you have the red-hot Red Sox that have truly been dominant all season, yet, they have had to deal with recent injury to their lineup.  On the other hand, the Tigers are riding high at this moment and winners of 5 of their last 7 games and looking to obtain a gauge as to how great they can be with a date, once again, with Boston at Fenway.  I expect the finale of this matchup to be low-scoring, defensive showcase amongst two AL teams that are and continue to trend upward.  With the pitchers coming to the mound, I will have to back the under in this matchup simply judging by their performances at the mound recently.
