Houston Astros vs Texas Rangers
The Rangers will welcome the Astros to Globe Life Park as the two teams will go head to head in a four-game series. The Rangers are in the last place in the AL West while the Astros are in 2nd. This will be the fourth meeting of season between the two teams as the Astros are leading the season series 2-1.
Houston Astros's Latest Performance :
The Astros will begin their 10 game road trip starting Thursday as they will play the Rangers in a 4 game series. The Astros are 19-11 on the road this season. The Astros have dropped to second place in the AL West division after a tough series against the Red Sox. Coming into this series the Astros are the best pitching team in the Major with a 2.82 ERA. The World Series Champion will have an easier matchup after two tough series. Playing against the Rangers will be a confidence booster for the World Series Champions to get back to winning ways. The Astros have homered in 12 straight games with 19 homers so far, the franchise record is 19 straight games.
Expect Carlos Correa to play well against the Rangers as he is the team leader in RBIs with 39 on the season. He has now homered in consecutive games and seems to have officially broken out of his recent slump. For the season he has a slash line of .263/.347/.469 with 10 homers. The Astros batters are playing with a lot of confidence because they are playing with elite pitchers that will give them the win and their offensive production won’t become a waste. Altuve has now stolen eight bases and only been caught once this season. The reigning AL MVP is trying for his seventh consecutive season of at least 30 bases swiped. In terms of batting, he is slashing .329/.375/.454 with four home runs, 29 RBI and 34 runs scored over the course of 61 games played.
Pitching for the Astros will be Gerrit Cole. He beat the Red Sox on Friday by allowing three runs in seven innings. He is now 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA. He doing a really good job in his first year with the Astros.
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
The Rangers are currently on a 6 game homestand as they will be playing the World Series Champion Astros. The Rangers aren’t doing too well at home this season as they are only 11-19 on the season and currently sitting in the last place of the AL West division with a record of 25-37. One of the main struggles for the Rangers this season have been their pitching they are ranked 24th in the Major with a 4.74 ERA. The Rangers have now lost 3 of their last four games, things won’t get much easier when they play the Astros in a four-game series, both teams will be very familiar with each other because it will be their 4th meeting of the year. The Rangers are having a tough time scoring as well, they were 2 for 27 with runners in scoring position in their last outing.
Nomar Mazara will have to play well for the Rangers against the Astros at home, he already piled up 39 RBIs this season, he is slashing .274/.345/.513 with 13 home runs in 61 games. He has collected two hits in each of the last three contests. As well as Nomar is batting for the Rangers it is hard for one player to lead a team to a win, in baseball it takes a collective effort to get the job done, it has to start from the batters all the way down to the reliever pitchers.
Shin-Soo Choo has reached base in 20 straight games, going 24 for 73 with 19 walks and on top of that, he is on an 11 game hitting streak he hopes the streak will continue when he plays the World Series Champion Astros. He is slashing .266/.367/.441 with 24 RBIs with 9 homers on the season.
Pitching for the Rangers will be Cole Hamels. He is 2-2 with a 2.89 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in his last seven starts, though he is 1-4 with a 4.66 ERA in six starts at home. He has made three starts against the Astros and is 1-1 with a 2.55 ERA and .194 batting average allowed against them.

My reason for the pick :
The Astros should be able to beat the Rangers on the road as they will be able to get back on the win column after the tough schedule they had to deal with a couple of days ago. Cole will remain superb on the mound as he will outpitch Hamels to lead the World Champs to another win on the road. The Astros are laying the blueprint on how to win in the Major and it starts by having great pitchers on the team then go from there.
