Houston Astros's Latest Performance :
The Astros will be glad to play on the road against the Rangers as their home woes continue they have now lost 3 games in a row at home considering how well the World Series Champion is playing at home this is something you don’t see that often. Dallas Keuchel did not have a good day on the mound as he was hit with 3 homers in the loss he is now 3-8 on the season. He is the first Astros starter to allow at least seven runs in a game. As a team, the Astros still remains the best pitching team with an ERA of 2.89. The Astros are 19-11 when playing on the road this season.
Marwin Gonzalez tripled, doubled and singled in his return to the team after suffering from a sore knee, he was the only bright spot on offense for the Astros. He will look to replicate what he did last year. The Astros are still waiting for him to get hot. He’s batting .233 with four homers and a .633 OPS through 189 at-bats.
Jose Altuve will look to bounce back on the road after a tough showing their homestand, he went 2 for 4 but had no real impact on the game against the Mariners he is a base hitter, not a strong hitter he plays the game of baseball the smart way, I expect him to play much better when the team goes to Texas. He is slashing .332/.377/.455 with 29 RBIs and 4 homers.
Pitching for the Astros will be Justin Verlander. He allowed two runs on three hits over six innings while taking a no-decision in Saturday’s loss to the Red Sox. He owns a 1.24 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 104/17 K/BB ratio (87 1/3 innings). He is one of the best pitchers we have in our game today.
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
The Rangers were able to start off their 6 game homestand with a win over the A’s as they were able to take advantage of the bad pitching from the A’s bullpen scoring 5 runs in the 7th and 8th inning. The Rangers hit five home runs in the comeback win. They are hoping to maintain this level of play throughout the 6 game homestand prior to the series opener the team had scored just five runs in their past four games, with the win the Rangers now have a record of 26-37 on the season. The task won’t get any easier when the World Champs come to town.
Joey Gallo played a huge factor in the Rangers comeback as he struck a homer in the 8th inning. He provided the insurance with a two-run blast. He also walked in the game, and he went without a strikeout in a game he started for the first time since May 15. He was the closer that the Rangers needed at home he hopes to play well against the Astros. He is slashing .206/.297/.472 with 16 homers and 36 RBIs. The Rangers now have momentum after the series opener a great start for a team playing bad at home this season.
Pitching for the Rangers will be Doug Fister. He is looking for his first win since March 30 when he allowed one run in five innings against the Astros in Arlington. He is 1-2 with a 6.39 ERA in five starts at home and had two quality starts on the team’s recent road trip.
How Houston Astros & Texas Rangers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Rangers are 8-18 in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a winning record.
Astros are 10-4 in their last 14 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Against The Spread Selection: Houston Astros
My reason for the pick :
The Astros will be able to bounce back from their homestand woes as the Astros should be able to take this one with ease with Verlander controlling the mound. The Rangers won’t be able to score as much as the Red Sox did when Verlander started in the last game so there will be no pressure on the Astros bullpen this time around.
The Astros to win on the road over the Rangers.
