Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Baltimore Orioles vs Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays will welcome the Orioles for game 3 of the 4 game series at Rogers Centre. Both teams are from the AL East division, the Orioles are in the last place while the Blue Jays are 4th.
Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :
The Orioles are coming off an impressive two-game series sweep against the Mets, they still remain in the last place of the AL East division with a record of 19-41. They have started their 6 game road trip 2-0 as they will get ready to play the Blue Jays in a four-game series. The O’s this season are ranked 29th in batting with 217 wins scored this season and 26th in pitching with a 4.93 ERA, the O’s went on and drafted 10 pitchers to strengthen the team for next season. During free agency, the O’s will have to part ways with their cornerstone player Manny Machado to start the full rebuild. The team has one of the worst road records this season they are 9-23.
Manny Machado drove in the Orioles’ lone run, plated Craig Gentry with a sac fly in the eighth inning. He grounded into a double play, walked and flew out to center field in his other three plate appearances. Machado ranks second in the majors with 49 RBI and is also tied for fourth in home runs with 18 behind only J.D. Martinez. He will continue to play well for the O’s but he is likely to be traded to a contending team in the near future.
Pitching for the Orioles will be Kevin Cashner. He pitched well enough to win in his last start against the Yankees, going six innings and allowing three runs on nine hits. Still, he has a 6.19 ERA over his past seven starts.
Toronto Blue Jays's Latest Performance :
The Blue Jays weren’t able to figure out the Yankees at home as they lost in a series sweep. The Blue Jays are hoping that they can turn things around when they play the O’s in a four-game series. The Blue Jays must start to pick things up if they want to avoid having a lost season, the Blue Jays now have a record of 26-35 they are 3 games behind in the loss column for the 3rd spot in the division and 9 games below the .500 mark they have lost 7 of their last 8 games. Gaviglio was great all game pitching 7 scoreless frames but unfortunately, the team bullpen gave up 3 runs in the 13th inning.
To turn things around the Blue Jays will need Yangervis Solarte to play well at home since he is the team leader in RBIs with 36 on the season. It is hard for a player like his caliber to play well knowing that the team will end up on the losing side because the pitcher won’t perform. Playing against the O’s would be able to boost his confidence after going 0 for 5 in his last hitting performance against the Mets. Although his line this year has been impressive he is hitting .251/.315/.463 with 12 homers on the year.
Pitching for the Blue Jays will be Aaron Sanchez. He looked sharp in his last outing, in which he allowed just one earned run over six innings against the Tigers. Walks have been an issue for Sanchez, though, with three or more in eight of his 12 starts. He owns a 4.48 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP.

My reason for the pick :
The Blue Jays will be able to win game 3 at home over the O’s as Sanchez will have a great pitching performance. The Blue Jays will have another shot to climb up the standings with this win over the O’s. The Orioles season might be over at this point of the season as they are now focusing on developing young guys to rebuild the franchise in the right direction going forward.
