Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago White Sox vs Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox will welcome the White Sox to Fenway Park to play in a 4 game series, this would be a great opportunity for the Red Sox to pull away from the Yankees in the standings. The Red Sox have the best record in the Major while the White Sox are 4th in the AL Central division.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The White Sox have been playing really well lately, winning 4 of their last 6 games as they prepare to travel to Fenway Park to play the Red Sox in a four-game series. The White Sox haven’t been great on the road this season they are 10-20 this year even though they have been playing really well a matchup against the Red Sox is a tough matchup for anyone with the way the Red Sox are playing. One of the main struggles for the White Sox this season is their pitching they are ranked 27th in the Major with a 4.95 ERA on the season. The White Sox took 20 pitchers in the Draft and were able to pick up the second baseman Nick Madrigal at number 4.
Tim Anderson went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. It was his two-run single in the sixth inning that put the White Sox ahead to stay. His knock-off reliever Ryan Pressly scored Jose Abreu and Kevan Smith with the go-ahead runs. He has a .242 batting average with 11 homers, 25 RBI, 31 runs and 13 stolen bases in 58 games. Anderson this season has become one of the building pieces that the White Sox can use in the future.
Pitching for the White Sox will be Carlos Rodon. He is making his 2018 debut. Rodon has been out since shoulder surgery in September. In four rehab starts, he struck out 28 in 17 2/3 innings with a 1.53 ERA.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Red Sox have started their 6 game homestand with a series win against the Tigers, the Red Sox now have the best record in the Major with a record of 43-19 this season, they have the best home record they are 22-8 on the season. The Red Sox are second in scoring with 326 runs scored this season just one run behind the Yankees. The White Sox shouldn’t be a problem for the Red Sox as I see them cruising through yet another series. The Red Sox pitchers are starting to tighten up the screws as they allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings for 2.14 ERA over last six starts.
Andrew Benintendi came through for the Red Sox as he is doing a great job filling for the injured Mookie Betts who is recovering from a left abdominal strain. He struck his 10th homer of the season, he has hit a homer in three of the last four games. He went 2 for 5 from the game and picked up 2 RBIs. He is on pace to set career highs across the board. He has a .296 batting average with 10 home runs, 43 RBI, 44 runs and 10 stolen bases while serving as the leadoff batter in the loaded Red Sox lineup. He should pick up right where he left off against the White Sox at home. The Red Sox team this season can definitely put up batting numbers.
Pitching for the Red Sox will be Chris Sale. He let in four runs in six innings and took a loss against the Astros on Friday. He surrendered a run on a wild pitch strikeout in the first inning. He struck out six batters against one walk and six hits while burning 100 pitches to get through six frames. He is now 5-3 on the season with a 3.00 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through 13 starts. He ranks third in the majors with 110 strikeouts.
