San Francisco Giants vs Miami Marlins

The Marlins will welcome the Giants to Marlins Park as both teams will go head to head in four-game series starting Monday night. The Marlins are in the last place of the NL East while the Giants are in 3rd place in the NL West division. This will be their first meeting of the season.

San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :

The Giants continue to be on a roll after sweeping the Phillies and grabbing a series win against the D-Backs at home. The Giants were able to carry the momentum from home on to the road as they took down the Nationals in the series opener, the Giants has been playing really well lately as they are now 3rd in the NL West with a record of 32-31 in fact there are 3 teams in the NL West with the same record: the Giants, the Rockies, and the Dodgers all three teams are 1 1/2 game behind for the top spot. The Giants will have an opportunity to break away from the group when they play the Marlins the Giants this season are not doing too well on the road they are 13-20 on the season with the way the team is playing they have a good chance of improving their road record.

Andrew McCutchen struck a two-run homer in his last performance. He is starting to heat up for the Giants he has homered in three of his past five games after having a total of three in his previous 55 games. He’s hitting .257/.351/.434 with six homers and 28 RBI in his first season in San Francisco. He should play a huge part in the Marlins series on the road. Gorkys Hernandez got his seventh home run of the season. He is hitting out of the eighth spot in the Giants’ lineup. He’s now hitting an impressive .289/.329/.472 with 13 RBI and three stolen bases. The Giants batters are starting to pick things up as the team is now 1 game above the .500 mark.

Pitching for the Giants will be Madison Bumgarner, He allowed two earned runs, eight hits and no walk with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Diamondbacks in his season debut Tuesday. He is looking to redeem himself against the Marlins as it will be a much easier batting lineup than the D-Backs.

Miami Marlins 's Latest Performance :

The Marlins were able to start up a 7 game homestand with a shutout win against the Padres, it is a great start for the Marlins since they are not good at all at home this season. The Marlins have a home record of 11-18 on the season, the Marlins are still in the last place of the NL East division with a record of 23-40 and it looks like it is going to be a lost season for the Marlins. The Marlins will be well prepared as they will be ready to host the Giants in a four-game series. Coming into this series the Marlins are the worst team in the Major in scoring with 219 runs scored this season.

The Rookie Brian Anderson is playing really well for the Marlins this season as he went 3-for-5 with a double. He went for another multi-hit game boosted his batting average up to .304 on the season. He only has three homers, although he has still been a steady run producer with 30 RBI and 32 runs scored in 63 games. The future is bright for Anderson and he must understand that things will get better in Miami.

Pitching for the Marlins will be Wei-Yin Chen. He allowed two earned runs, six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Wednesday in St. Louis. He threw 61 of his 91 pitches for strikes, his second-most pitches of the season since he made his debut on April 28. He now owns a 5.86 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP this season.

How San Francisco Giants & Miami Marlins Matchup.

Marlins are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. National League West.

Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 overall.

Against The Spread Selection: San Francisco Giants

My reason for the pick :

The momentum is on the Giants side as they will be able to beat out the Marlins on the road, Bumgarner will have a better showing after a horrendous debut, the Giants batters will be able to prevail as McCutchen should be able to figure out Chen pitches. The Marlins will still struggle to find offense at home. This will be a great opportunity for the Giants to improve their road record and have a shot at becoming the NL West leader.

Betting trends for San Francisco Giants:
