The Padres come into this matchup winners of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U has been 3-2. Recently, the Padres would win a 3-game home series with the Cincinnati Reds on 6-3-2018. This momentum would not translate into their next 3-game road set against the Marlins as they dropped game 1 by a 4-0 score on 6-8-2018. They would, however, tie the series in game 2 by picking up the slim 5-4 victory.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Cardinals star pitcher Miles Mikolas (7-1) will make his way to the mound once again for St. Louis looking to continue his solid streak of pitching along with obtain his 5th win in 8 starts. Mikolas salvaged a lost series for the Cardinals against the Miami Marlins by pitching 7 innings while allowing only 1 run on 3 hits in a 4-1 game 3 home win on 6-7-2018. This will be Mikolas’ first crack at this Padres lineup, however, San Diego has averaged 5.1 runs per game in their last 10 games, however, in their last 7 road games, are averaging only 2.1 runs per game. It will be interesting to see how the surging Padres will adjust to Mikolas and his powerful delivery on Tuesday night.
Against The Spread Selection: St. Louis Cardinals
My reason for the pick :
While I can appreciate the way in which the Padres are playing at his time, I will also say that Mikolas has been very solid on the mound this year for the Cardinals. In his last 7 starts, he has only been charged with 8 earned runs on 37 hits with the under being the play in 5 of his last 7 outings. I expect him to totally confuse this Padre offense just enough for the Cards to develop a slim lead in which to take home the hard-fought victory on Tuesday. Again, this will not be an offensive game, particularly for San Diego, however, the Cardinals will score just enough runs in which to claim the win in the end.
