Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Angels vs Seattle Mariners

The Mariners will welcome the Angels to Safeco Field as the team from the AL West will go head to head in a 3 game series. The Mariners will look to extend the lead-up top while the Angels are trying to close the 3 1/2 game gap between the two teams. This will be their 2nd meeting of the season, the Angels won the first matchup 2-1.

Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :

The Angels have now won 6 straight games, as they get ready to take on the division leader the Mariners. The Angels have started off their 9 game road trip 3-0 they have been solid on the road all year long they are 20-10 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Angels are 7th best in the Major in pitching with a 3.56 ERA on the season and 8th in batting with 294 runs this season. The Angels have all the momentum on their side winning six straight as they hope they can carry over the momentum and play well against the Mariners on the road.

Ian Kinsler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. His third-inning shot off starter Kyle Gibson opened the scoring. He’s now struck six homers in his last 11 games. The recent hot streak has served to elevate his season stats into the semi-respectable range after an ice-cold first two months. He has a .219 batting average with eight home runs and 17 RBI. He will play a huge factor against the very strong Mariners pitchers.

Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. He has a .252 batting average with nine home runs and 33 RBI. He is also seventh all-time in home runs with 623 and 1,951 RBIs tied him with Stan Musial for seventh on the career RBI list. He will use this as motivation when he travels to Seattle.

Pitching for the Angels will be Nick Tropeano. He gave up five runs in just 4 2/3 innings against the Royals on Monday. He allowed nine hits and couldn’t make it out of the fifth. He owns a 4.35 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP.

Seattle Mariners's Latest Performance :

The Mariners will return home after the series with the Rays as they will take on the Angels in a 3 game series. The Mariners are 20-12 when playing at home this season, playing against the Angels will be their biggest challenge yet because after losing out the 3rd game against the Rays on the road that allowed the Astros to close the gap for the top spot. Playing against the Angels won’t be an easy task considering how good they have been playing on the road this season. However, the Mariners have put up a great run winning 16 of their last 21 games. The Mariners have the lowest ERA in the Major.

Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run giving him his 12th homer of the year. He has hit two homers in his last four games while working to a .253/.338/.484. He and Seager were the only bright spot on the Mariners offense, it was hard for the Mariners to come back after a bad showing from Felix as he gave up seven hits and six runs. Seager chipped in with 2 RBIs of his own. The Mariners will pitchers will have to make up for Felix bad pitching when they host the Angels at home. The Mariners have learned that having solid pitchers gives a team a great chance of winning the baseball game.

Pitching for the Mariners will be Mike Leake. Since losing to the Angels on May 4, the 30-year-old has gone 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA in six starts, all Mariners wins. He has 24 strikeouts and two walks in 42 innings in that span and is coming off an eight-inning, two-run outing at Tampa Bay. He will look to redeem himself second time around.

How Los Angeles Angels & Seattle Mariners Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Mariners are 6-0 in their last 6 during game 1 of a series.

Angels are 15-6 in their last 21 vs. American League West.

Against The Spread Selection: Seattle Mariners

My reason for the pick :

The winning streak of the Angels will end at 6 as the Mariners should be able to pull out a win at home against the Angels. Leake will learn from his mistakes as he will be able to redeem himself at home. As good as the Angels are when facing a good pitcher like Leake who has gone 3-0 since they last faced each other it’s going to be tough for the Angels to win on the road.

The Mariners to beat out the Angels at home.

Betting trends for Los Angeles Angels:

  • Angels are 20-9 in their last 29 road games.

Betting trends for Seattle Mariners:

  • Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 home games.
