Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Minnesota Twins vs Detroit Tigers
The Tigers will welcome the Twins to Comerica Park as the two teams from the AL Central will play in 3 game series. The Tigers are in the 2nd place of the division while the Twins are in 3rd place. This will be their 2nd meet of the year with the Twins leading the season series 1-0.
Minnesota Twins's Latest Performance :
The Twins were able to avoid the series sweep against the Angels as they scored 7 runs in the rubber game. The Twins will begin their 5 game road trip and first on their schedule are the Tigers. They will be playing in a three-game series. The Twins aren’t a good road team this season they are 11-17 on the year. The Twins are 5 1/2 back from the top spot and playing against the Tigers would allow them to climb up the division this means they will have to show up on the road, great team tends to find ways to win on the road something the Twins will have to work on as the season goes on if they want to make a push for the postseason.
Jake Cave went 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and two runs scored. He hit a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning and slugged a two-run shot off Angels reliever Jim Johnson in the bottom of the fifth. He has two homers and five RBI in five games this season at the major league level. He is doing well after being recalled from the Minor as he came up big for the Twins in his last outing.
The Twins are 26-13 this season in games in which they scored four or more runs. They are 14-11 in which they score first.
Pitching for the Twins will be Jose Berrios. He struck out 10 and threw his second complete game of the season against the White Sox on June 7. He threw a season-high 109 pitches. That outing marked the third time this season that he has punched out at least 10 batters in an outing.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Tigers weren’t able to figure out the division leader Indians as they were swept in 3 games it was expected because Corey Kluber was on the mound, as a result, the Tigers are now 5 games behind the Indians for the top spot in the division. The Tigers survived the toughest stretch they will face all season they went 3-5 playing against the Yankees, Red Sox and the Indians. The Tigers will cap off their 6 game homestand by playing against their division rivals the Twins in a three-game set. The Tigers are 21-16 when playing at home this season.
Leonys Martin went 1-for-4 with a homer. He was the only run-producer for Detroit’s offense against Corey Kluber on Sunday. The homer gives the Tigers leadoff hitter nine on the season, with this one coming off of Kluber in the sixth inning. He also had an RBI groundout in the third to score John Hicks. Martin now has his line at .262/.329/.478 to go along with the nine homers and 24 RBI over 54 games. He should be able to carry over his batting performance when the team welcomes the Twins at home.
Pitching for the Tigers will be Matthew Boyd. He struggled with the strike zone vs. the Twins last month in Minnesota, walking four over as many innings despite one hit allowed in his only loss since mid-May. Left-handed hitters are batting just .182 (10-for-55) off him this season.
How Minnesota Twins & Detroit Tigers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Tigers are 5-2 in their last 7 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Twins are 4-1 in their last 5 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Against The Spread Selection: Detroit Tigers
My reason for the pick :
The Tigers will remain to play well against the Twins as they should be able to pick up against a struggling road team like the Twins. The Tigers will do all they can to not let the Indians have a comfortable lead up top and cutting out the Twins out of the picture so they can only focus on the Indians will certainly help.
Tigers to win on the road as they will bounce back from the Indians sweep.
