Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Houston Astros vs Kansas City Royals
The Royals will welcome the World Series Champs Astros to Kauffman Stadium as the two teams will be going head to head in a three-game series. The Royals are in the last place of the AL Central while the Astros are 2nd in the AL West division. This will be their first meeting of the year.
Houston Astros's Latest Performance :
The Astros will cap off their 10 game road trip by playing against the struggling Royals. The Astros must keep the Mariners in arm’s length because they don’t want the Mariners to have a comfortable lead if they leave it to the very end to make a run for the top spot it might be too late. The Astros are a very solid team on the road with a record of 24-11. They are currently on a 6 game winning streak. The best pitching team in the major will be facing off against the worst pitching team the Royals, this would be a great opportunity for the Astros batters to show us what they can do against a bad pitching team like the Royals. The Astros are ranked 3rd in batting with 339 runs scored this season.
Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run home run and five RBI. He has caught fire recently, posting four multi-hit games across his past six outings to bump his average up from .219 to .239 just since June 5. He also has three homers and 11 RBI during the impressive stretch, the Royals will be facing their worst nightmare as it will be a very long series for the Royals because the Astros are simply too good to play against at moment. They are reminding us that last year World Series victory wasn’t a fluke.
Pitching for the Astros will be Charlie Morton. He was wild and didn’t make it out of the fourth inning Saturday, walking six and hitting four more while allowing two runs. He owns a 2.82 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 96/29 K/BB, he should get back to his own form when playing against the Royals.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Royals are on an 8 game homestand as they will welcome the World Series Champion Astros to play in a three-game series. It hasn’t been a great year for the Royals at all they are 22-45 ranking them last in the AL Central division. The reason why the Royals have been so bad this year is that of their pitching the Royals are ranked last with a 5.28 ERA and it is hard to win at this level if the team ERA is that high and giving up 4 runs in the 10th inning isn’t going to cut it. They will face an extremely tough challenge when the Astros come to visit. The Royals have the worst home record this season they are 10-22 when playing at home.
Hunter Dozier swatted his second home run of the year. He opened the scoring in the contest with a solo shot off of Sal Romano in the fifth inning. That would stand as the only run in the game for either side until the ninth inning. Dozier, starting at first base in place of the injured Lucas Duda, finished the night 1-for-4. He’s now hitting .250/.313/.375 with two homers and five RBI in 96 plate appearances on the season.
Pitching for the Royals will be Jake Junis. He surrendered six runs in 5 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the A’s. Since opening the season with 14 scoreless innings, Junis has pitched to a 4.91 ERA in 11 starts. He should continue to boast solid strikeout and walk rates, but he’ll probably keep giving up too many homers to be of much use in mixed leagues.
How Houston Astros & Kansas City Royals Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Royals are 10-22 in their last 32 home games.
Astros are 6-1 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Against The Spread Selection: Houston Astros
My reason for the pick :
The Astros will steamroll past the Royals on the road as the Astros will prove to be too good for the Royals and I don’t see the Astros dropping any games anytime soon especially not against the Royals. The Astros got a lot of offensive weapons and it will be hard for the Astros to keep up as they will get blown out at home in their first meeting against the World Series Champ.
