The first place Cleveland Indians play host to the Minnesota Twins tonight at Progressive field in game 1 of a three-game series. The Indians are coming off of a loss to the Chicago White Sox who played spoiler in Adam Plutko’s return to the big leagues beating them 5-1 at Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Twins are coming off a 6-4 win against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday night that featured Twins slugger Ehire Adrianza’s first career grand slam home run.

On the mound for Minnesota, tonight will be the right-hander, Kyle Gibson (1-4, 3.45 ERA) vs. Cleveland star, Corey Kluber (10-2, 1.99 ERA). Kluber leads the AL with 10 wins and a number of streaks that only continue to grow.

The Minnesota Twins are currently on a 2-game winning streak and looking to put some heat on Cleveland in the tight Central race. The Twins have had some difficulties in the bullpen. Jake Odorizzi was done after five innings in their win against the Sox on Tuesday giving up two runs early. Luckily, Adrianza blasted that grand slam to seal the win. Manager Paul Molitor was pleased to see the homer hit the seats. It was much needed.

 

Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :

The Cleveland Indians are holding onto a five-game lead over the Twins in the AL Central. They are looking to continue to improve this season and recently called up outfielder/catcher Francisco Mejia on Monday. He’s the No. 7 overall prospect and his bat has been on fire as of late.

In an interesting move this week, Cleveland released reliever Matt Belisle only to have him signed by division rival Minnesota Twins hours later.
