Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox take on the visiting Detroit Tigers in game two of their divisional series at Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday Night. The second place Tigers are sitting 4.5 games behind the Indians who have dropped two in a row to the White Sox this week. The Tigers split their recent series with the Twins winning the last of two 5-2 at home.
The White Sox are going with Lucas Giolito (4-7, 7.09 ERA) on the mound against winless Artie Lewicki (0-2, 4.18 ERA). Neither pitcher has been great this season, but the edge just might go to Giolito in this one.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire recorded win No. 1,100 against the Twins on Wednesday night and was greeted with a massive beer shower in the locker room. While they’re 4-6 in their last ten games, the Tigers are playing decent ball. It was the bullpen that helped secure the win. They went through a laundry list of pitchers to get it done, while Tiger hitters put up a four-run 8th inning to go ahead for good.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The Sox are keeping their head above water in the AL Central in front of the Kansas City Royals who currently possess the worst record in baseball. They are 6-4 in their last ten and have won their last two. Pitcher Dylan Covey had a good night on Wednesday boosting his team past the Indians 3-2. He didn’t exit until the eighth with a 3-0 lead.
Injuries continue to plague the pitching staff. Reliever Nate Jones (2-2, 4.01 ERA) was placed on the 1-day disabled list after being diagnosed with a pronator muscle strain in his right arm. Juan Minaya was called up from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Jones.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Tigers are on a roll and with their pitching, offense, and defense firing on all cylinders, they are a real threat to the Indians. On the flipside, the White Sox aren’t really a threat to the Tigers second place standing, but are coming off of back-to-back wins over the Indians and are capable of taking a game or two in the series. It is a divisional game and those series can typically be a toss-up, but home field won’t matter and neither will Lucas Giolito. The game will be won in the batter’s box and not on the mound.
