Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Houston Astros vs Kansas City Royals

The Royals will welcome back the World Series Champions Astros to Kauffman Stadium to play in game 2 of the 3 game set. The Royals are in the last place of the AL Central they are coming off a shutout victory over the Reds while the Astros are in second place in the AL West. This will be their first meeting of the season.

Houston Astros's Latest Performance :

The World Series Champions are feeling more confident as they now have won 7 straight games. The Astros will be looking to end this 10 game road trip with a bang as they will take on the Royals in a 3 game series. Although the Astros are on a seven-game winning streak the team still trails the Mariners by 1/2 a game, these two teams will go neck and neck for a chance to win the division. The Astros are 25-11 when playing on the road as the number 1 pitching team will face off against the worst pitching team.

Evan Gattis has been on fire for the Astros lately he became the first player in club history to score 5 RBIs 2 games in a row. He tied a club record with 10 RBIs in a two-game span, giving him 25 RBIs in his last 15 games. He has raised his average from .196 to .246, he will have a Major impact against the Royals on the road.

Yuli Gurriel finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. l hit .310 in the month of May but has just nine RBI. He has been even more productive in June, going .391 (18-for-46) with four doubles, a homer and 11 RBI in 11 June contests. As such, he has raised his average from .281 to .304. There is a reason why the Astros have climbed up to be the 2nd best batting team in the Major as now they only trail the Boston Red Sox by 2 runs for the top spot.

Pitching for the Astros will be Dallas Keuchel. He allowed six runs, five earned and 13 hits while walking none and striking out three over 4 1/3 innings Sunday in Texas. He is a 3-8 record, 4.45 ERA, and 1.32 WHIP. He hasn’t won since May 13, a span of five starts. He’ll look to get back on the win column against the Royals.

Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :

The Royals are now on a 3 game losing streak as the Royals 8 game homestand have started off 0-2 losing to the Reds in a two-game series. The homestand doesn’t get any easier as they will welcome the World Series Champion Astros who is on a 7 game winning streak. The Royals have one of the worst home records this season they are 10-23 when playing at home. Coming into this series the Royals are the worst pitching team in the league with a 5.27 ERA. The team bullpen must do a better job at the mound they allowed 7 runs from the 7th innings onwards. The Royals offense hasn’t been doing well either managing just 11 runs in the past seven games.

Whit Merrifield went 2-for-3 and worked a walk. He had one double and one single. The rest of his teammates combined for just three hits in the shutout loss. He started in center field today for the seventh time but he plays second base most of the time. He has a .294 batting average with four homers, 22 RBI, 31 runs and 14 stolen bases on the season. He will face a tough challenge as he will be going against the best pitching team in the Majors.

Pitching for the Royals will be Danny Duffy. He will take the mound for the Royals in Game 2 of the series against the Astros. After a rough start to 2018, Duffy has been hot lately, including throwing seven shutout innings, with a season-high 10 strikeouts, against the A’s on Saturday.

How Houston Astros & Kansas City Royals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Royals are 5-22 in their last 27 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.

Astros are 6-0 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.

Against The Spread Selection: Houston Astros

My reason for the pick :

The Astros will pick up win number 10 as the Astros will take game 2 from the Royals on the road. Although Keuchel hasn’t been pitching well the potent Astros offense will bail him out once again as the batters should be able to figure out Duffy pitches early. The Astros will look to take an early lead and never look back. Although the Astros aren’t the best team in the Majors record wise they still have their World Series swagger with them. I won’t be surprised at all if the Astros ended up being the best pitching team and batting team after this game is over.

The Astros to beat the Royals on the road.

Betting trends for Houston Astros:

  • Astros are 21-7 in their last 28 road games.

Betting trends for Kansas City Royals:

  • Royals are 1-8 in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600.
