Arizona Diamondbacks vs Los Angeles Angels

Game 1 of a 2-game set between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels will take place at Angel Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on Monday night at 10:10 pm EST.  The D’backs remain in 1st place within the NL West division while the Angels are in 3rd place within the competitive AL West division.  This will be the 1st matchup of the year between these two teams, however, the two teams both split 2 consecutive home and home inter-league play series both on 6-15-2015 and on 6-17-2015.

Arizona Diamondbacks's Latest Performance :

The Arizona Diamondbacks have won 4 of their last 5 game to where the O/U was 4-1.  Recently, the D’backs would come out of a losing streak on the road against the Colorado Rockies by sweeping a 3-game set on 6-10-2018.  They would also go on to win a 3-game home set versus the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates on 6-13-2018.  Against the NY Mets on 6-14-2018, the D’backs would also go on to win the first 2 games of a 4-game set with game 2 being a 7-3 victory.

Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :

The Angels come into this game winners of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-4.  Recently, the Angels would win a 3-game road set at Target Field against the Minnesota Twins on 6-10-2018, yet, would get swept in their following series on the road against the Seattle Mariners in a 3-game set on 6-13-2018.  Nonetheless, the Angels will get back into the win column on 6-15-2018 with a game 1 road win over the Oakland A’s in a 3-game set.

For the season, the Angels are averaging 4.56 runs per game (9th) with a team batting average of .248 (14th), 95 homers (4th) along with 35 stolen bases (14th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.71 (10th) with 637 strikeouts (10th) with 29 quality starts on the year (17th).

How Arizona Diamondbacks & Los Angeles Angels Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the D’backs are 38-31 ATS while the O/U is 34-32-3.  On the other hand, the Angels are 33-37 ATS while the O/U is 31-35-4.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

With the pitchers for both teams not being known, one fact that is known is that the Angels’ staff have given up some runs in their current losing skid.  During their current 4-game skid, they are surrendering almost 7 runs per game while the offense is averaging a mere 4.2 runs during this time.  On the other hand, the D’backs have allowed just under 5 runs per game in their last 5 games while the offense has been clicking lately averaging 8.5 runs per game in their last 7.  While the over has been the play in 3 of the last 4 games for the Angels, it has been the result in 6 of the last 8 games for Arizona.

Against The Spread Selection: Arizona Diamondbacks

My reason for the pick :

I will back the D’backs in this matchup on Monday night.  The Angels have struggled a bit too much in their recent outings to back against an Arizona team that has been on a tear lately in winning 6 of their last 7 games.  Combine this with the fact that the pitching staff for the Angels along with their hitters within the lineup are each going through their fair share of inconsistencies, I expect this a game to where the D’backs would be able to continue to obtain even more momentum in which to move forward.  In all, take Arizona to win 2-straight with a win in the opener of this series.
