Milwaukee Brewers vs Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates will welcome the division leader Brewers to PNC Park as both teams from the NL Central will go head to head in a three-game series. The Pirates are in 4th place of the division while the Brewers are first. This will be their second meeting of the year, the Pirates have a 1-0 season series lead over the Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers 's Latest Performance :

The Brewers will hit the road for a brief 3 game set on the road against the Pirates. The Brewers are on a 3 game winning streak. The Brewers are first in the NL Central division with a record of 42-27 the National Leauge’s best record. They are 21-15 when playing on the road this season. The Brewers are gaining confidence every time they play defeating their opponents left and right. Coming into this series the Brewers are 5th best in pitching with a 3.42 ERA on the season and 14th in batting with 304 runs scored this season. Playing against the Pirates would allow them to pull away from the pack in their division as they currently have a 1 1/2 lead over the Cubs.

Jesus Aguilar homered and drove in three runs in his last performance. He was credited with a sacrifice fly in a five-run second inning before doing more damage in the eighth inning with a two-run shot against position player pitcher Jesmuel Valentin in the eighth inning. He has produced 12 homers and a .893 OPS in 60 games this season. He will do just fine on the road against Pirates.

Christian Yelich struck a two-run homer, drew a walk, and scored two runs. Look for him to heat up on the road against the Pirates, he just needs one good game to get home going. He’s batting .301/.372/.482 with nine homers, 30 RBI, seven steals, and 45 runs scored through 57 games.

Pitching for the Brewers will be Jhoulys Chacin. He is 6-0 with a 2.86 ERA over his past dozen starts. In his last outing, he pitched six scoreless innings against the Cubs. The Brewers are 12-3 behind Chacin this season.

Pittsburgh Pirates's Latest Performance :

The Pirates were able to carry over the momentum from the road victory against the D-Backs onto their 10 game homestand by defeating the Reds in their series opener. The Pirates will now get ready to host the division leader the Brewers in a 3 game series. The Pirates are 19-15 when playing at home this season. The Pirates are still 8-18 over their last 26 games one game below .500 but they have won 3 straight for the first time since May. The Pirates are 9th in the Majors in batting with 318 runs scored this season and 22nd in pitching with a 4.28 ERA on the season. The Pirates were able to beat the Brewers in their last series meet on the road but the Brewers have been playing much better the last time these two teams played.

The Pirates needed two sacrifices fly to get on the scoreboard. One from Moran and Marte. Moran put the Pirates ahead to stay. The rookie third baseman also singled, walked and scored a run in the ballgame, finishing the night 1-for-2. He’s hitting .273/.359/.412 with five homers and 26 RBI in his first 217 plate appearances with the Pirates.  He will look to make an impact when the Brewers visit PNC Park. Marte is slashing .287/.341/.475 with 8 homers and 31 RBIs on the year. The Pirates are hoping that they can continue their impressive homestand.

Pitching for the Pirates will be Trevor Williams. He will get the start for the series opener against the Brewers on Monday at PNC Park. He will look to return to the great form he showed in the first month of the season, as he’s allowed 20 earned runs in his past 21 innings.

Against The Spread Selection: Milwaukee Brewers

My reason for the pick :

The Brewers will get their revenge as they will pick up the road win against the Pirates. With Chacin controlling the mound, it is hard for the Brewers not to lose he is 6-0 for a reason. He will pick up his 7th win of the season against the Pirates. The Brewers are firing on all cylinders making them so hard to stop at the moment. For the Pirates, unfortunately, their mini win streak will have to come to a halt as the Brewers will prove to be too good for them.

The Brewers to win on the road over the Pirates courtesy of Chacin.
