Philadelphia Phillies's Latest Performance :
The Phillies enter this matchup winners of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 4-1. Recently, they would lose a 3-game road set to the Chicago Cubs on 6-7-2018 while also dropping their following series against the Brewers in a 3-game home set on 6-10-2018. The Phills would get back on tracking by winning a 3-game home series versus the reeling Colorado Rockies on 6-14-2018. They would, nonetheless, go on to lose game 1 of a 3-game weekend set versus the Brewers by losing 12-3.

How St. Louis Cardinals & Philadelphia Phillies Matchup.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Nick Pavetta (4-6) will report back to the mound seeking to halt a streak of losses that have not only plagued him recently, but, has certainly put his team in numerous bad positions. In his last outing, he pitched 5 innings while allowing 6 runs on 8 hits in a 7-2 home loss to the Rockies on 6-13-2018. Pavetta has been credited with 14 earned runs in his last 4 starts while the under was the result in 4 of his last 6 starts. Jedd Gyorko (.800 BA on 5 AB), Marcell Ozuna (.200 BA on 10 AB), Tommy Pham and Kolten Wong (1-2 each) have had the most success against Pavetta in the past. Matt Carpenter (0-6), Dexter Fowler (0-4), Greg Garcia (0-2), and Yadier Molina (0-3) have not had any success figuring out Pavetta in their careers.
Totals Selection: Under
My reason for the prediction :
I see the under as being the play in this contest in that Pavetta, though has had his troubles recently, has stayed close to the under recently along with the fact that the lineup opposing him has only averaged 3.6 runs in their last 5 games. Pavetta has also had decent success against this Cardinals lineup as well. Phillies have won 3 of their last 4 and desperately need to get things back on track, however, they will have to silence the bats even more for St. Louis. With Pavetta coming to the mound, this can certainly be done. It would be fair to mention that the Cardinals pitching staff has surrendered an average of 4 runs per game in their last 5 while the Phillies offense has put up an average of 4.6 runs per game during this time.
