Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Texas Rangers vs Kansas City Royals
The Royals will welcome the Rangers to Kauffman Stadium as the two teams will go head to head in a three-game series starting Monday. Both teams aren’t having the best of years, the Royals are in the last place of the AL Central while the Rangers are last in the AL West division. This will be their second meeting of the season, in the first series meet both teams ended up winning 2 games apiece the series ended in a split.
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
The Rangers will be hoping that they can turn things around when they play against the Royals on the road as the Rangers have now lost 7 straight games. The Rangers are 14-20 when playing on the road. Coming into this series the Rangers are 27th in pitching with a 4.86 ERA and 16th in batting with 297 runs scored this season. Although they don’t have much problem scoring they tend to give up early runs and it makes it hard for the team to play from behind and pick up the win. The rebuilding mode in Texas is in full effect as the Rangers handed rookie Yohander Mendez an extended look as a starter.
Joey Gallo launched his 18th home run of the season. It was a long blast to left-center field which helped give the Rangers an early 5-0 lead. He’s hitting just .201 on the season, but he’s at least contributed with 18 homers and 41 RBI over 69 games. He should an impact in the series against the Royals. Gallo has to understand that playing on the Rangers requires a lot of patience as the team is figuring out what works and what doesn’t by rotating pitchers and giving younger players an opportunity to play in the Majors, this season has been a lost season for the Rangers.
Pitching for the Rangers will be Bartolo Colon. He has made 31 starts and one relief appearance in his career against the Royals, going 15-10 with a 5.00 ERA.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Royals will close out their 8 game homestand as they will welcome the Rangers to play in a 3 game series. The Royals have now lost 4 straight games, they will get an easier matchup as when they take on the Rangers. The Royals have the worst home record of the Majors they are 10-24 when playing at home this season. Coming into this series the Royals are 27th in scoring with 256 runs scored this season the reason why the Royals are losing the majority of their games is that of their bad pitching they have a team ERA of 5.30.
Mike Moustakas will have to play well at home against the Rangers. He is the team leader in RBIs and home runs at 45 and 13 respectively. He has been the only bright spot for the Royals offense so far this season but with the bad pitching the team is currently dealing with it is out of his control. In his last performance, he gave the Royals an early lead but then the opposing team tied the game right back. It is draining if you are a good batter on a bad team because the numbers you put up on nightly bases won’t mean anything if you can’t pick up the win.
Pitching for the Royals will be Ian Kennedy. He will start the series opener against the Rangers at Kauffman Stadium. He fired eight shutout innings and allowed just three hits against the Reds in a no-decision his last time out on Tuesday.

Royals are 11-27 in their last 38 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Rangers are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record.
Against The Spread Selection: Kansas City Royals
My reason for the pick :
Both teams are on a losing streak and there can only be one winner, I have to go with Royals beating the Rangers at home. Ian Kennedy will put up a masterful pitching performance as he will shut down the Rangers batters. Expect a high scoring game because both teams are bad at pitching this season. Nevertheless, the Royals will be able to end their losing streak at home.
