Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Baltimore Orioles vs Atlanta Braves

The Braves will welcome the Orioles to SunTrust Park as the two teams will go head to head in an interleague 3 games series starting on Friday. The Braves are first in the NL East while the O’s are last in the AL East. This will be their first meeting of the year.

Game 1: 7:35 PM ET

Game 2: 4:10 PM ET

Game 3: 1:35 PM ET

Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :

The O’s will cap off their 6 game road trip as they will face off against the Braves in a three-game series, the O’s have the worst road record of the Majors winning only 9 road games so far this season. The O’s already have one eye on the future because this season has been a disaster for them. Although their offense has picked it up these last couple of games, they have scored 4 or more three games in a row they are hoping they can carry over their impressive batting when they play the Braves this a solid sign for a team with the fewest run this year. Coming into this series the O’s are 28th in pitching with a 4.94 ERA.

Player to watch in this series:  Manny Machado, he should be the player that everyone keeps an eye on as he is one of the hottest batters in the Major right now he is slashing .305/.373/.559 with 18 home runs and 53 RBI in 70 games this season for a Baltimore. He will play well against the Braves but he, as usual, he won’t get any support from his fellow batters. He is likely to become a free agent in the Winter and who decides to trade for him will getting themselves a steal. He leads the team in RBIs, homers and batting average.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Manny Machado (53)
  • Homers: Manny Machado (18)
  • Batting Average: Manny Machado (.305)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Alex Cobb, he surrendered five runs in seven innings and was charged with a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.  He is 2-9 on the season with a 7.14 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.

Game 2: Dylan Bundy, he gave up four runs over six innings while striking out five in a win over the Marlins on Sunday. He is 5-7 on the year with a 3.81 ERA.

Game 3: David Hess, he started strong but hit a wall Tuesday, allowing five runs over just 4 2/3 innings in the Orioles’ loss to the Nationals. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.82 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.

Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :

The Braves will return to SunTrust Park for their next 6 games, they are coming off an impressive road win over the Blue Jays. They have now won 7 of their last 8 games. The Braves open up their homestand by playing against the Orioles in a 3 game series. The Braves are back on top of the division and are enjoying a 3 1/2 lead on top of the NL East division, they are 21-13 when playing at home this season, the O’s shouldn’t be a problem for the Braves at this point of the season as the Braves will take this opportunity to extend their lead on top of their division. Coming into this series the Braves are 4th best in batting with 355 runs scored this season and 7th in pitching with a 3.55 ERA. The Braves shouldn’t have a problem with the O’s with the way they are currently playing.

Player to watch in this series: Ender Inciarte, he went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, three RBI, and three runs scored, he is making a good case for returning to the top of the order.  He still leads the National League with his 20 steals. He will have the opportunity to showcase his skills against the O’s at home, I expect him to put up huge numbers during the 6 game homestand. He is slashing .252/.309/.358 with 5 homers and 29 RBIs on the year.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Freddie Freeman (49)
  • Homers: Ozzie Albies (16)
  • Batting Average: Freddie Freeman (.333)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Sean Newcomb, he fired off six scoreless innings while surrendering just two hits in Saturday’s win over the Padres. He is 8-2 on the season, with a 2.70 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 81/36 K/BB ratio across an even 80 innings this season.

Game 2: Julio Teheran, he pitched six no-hit innings while striking out 11 in a 4-1 victory over the Padres on Sunday. He has a 3.97 ERA on the season, and he’s now struck out 67 hitters over 77 innings over 14 starts.

Game 3: Mike Foltynewicz, he is projected to return to the mound for the Braves on Sunday after suffering from a tricep injury. He has a 2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 94/33 K/BB ratio through 79 innings before the injury.

How Baltimore Orioles & Atlanta Braves Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Braves are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record.

Orioles are 11-40 in their last 51 road games.

Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves

My reason for the pick :

The Braves should be able to handle the O’s with ease at home as I predict that the Braves will sweep the O’s in 3 games as the Braves will continue to win as they will be able to carry over the momentum from their previous series against the Blue Jays on to this series. The Braves will start to pull away from the Nationals as the O’s offense will continue to struggle against the Braves pitchers. No one expected the Braves to be this good so quickly, they completely ignored what the scouts say about them and they are now one of the top teams in the Majors this season.

The Braves to beat the O’s at home 3-0.

Betting trends for Baltimore Orioles:

  • Orioles are 3-8 in their last 11 vs. National League East.

Betting trends for Atlanta Braves:

  • Braves are 7-3 in their last 10 vs. American League East.
