Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Kansas City Royals vs Houston Atros
The AL West-leading Houston Astros will take on the AL Central’s last-place Kansas City Royals in a three-game series at Minute Maid Park starting on Friday night. The Royals come to town on a brutal 7-game losing streak to battle one of MLB’s best as the Astro’s look to add to their impressive 12-game win streak.
Pitching has been one of Houston’s many bright spots this season and they will put three ace’s on the mound against Kansas City. In game one, Houston will start lefty Dallas Keuchel (4-8, 4.15 ERA) against lefty Danny Duffy (3-7, 5.5 ERA). In game two, Houston will start closer Gerrit Cole (8-1, 2.59 ERA) against Jason Hammel (2-8, 4.98 ERA). Kansas City pitchers will have their hands full with Astro sluggers who as a team are No. 1 in MLB and have hit 92 combined home runs.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Kansas City Royals are having the complete opposite season that the Astro’s are currently enjoying. They are in last place in just about every category. A far cry from the unstoppable force the 2015 World Series Champs they once were. Moustakas, as good as he is, can make little to no impact on the outcome of their games. A lot of teams are rebuilding and reloading this season, especially after a strong draft. However, it doesn’t necessarily take away from the beatings the Royals are taking each night.
Houston Atros's Latest Performance :
The Houston Astro’s are on a roll and at times seem unbeatable. Their pitching and hitting are among the best in MLB and there aren’t any signs of them slowing. The Mariners are only 2 games back but have recently dropped a couple of games in a row while Houston appears to be on cruise control.
Astro pitching has a combined 2.80 earned run average which also the best in baseball trailed closely by the Chicago Cubs at 3.17 earned run average. They also have allowed a league-best 232 runs this season.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The visiting Royals don’t really have much hope in this series. The Astro’s are taking a chance by starting Keuchel on the mound given his losing record, but even that won’t matter. He decimated the Royals in their last series in a game KC lost 10-2. In that 3-game series, played earlier this month, Houston swept the Royals with a combined twenty-four runs to KC’s nine.
This match-up pits MLB’s best against its worst. Of course, you can never say never in baseball, but this won’t be a competitive series on any level.
