Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets
The Mets will welcome the Dodgers to Citi Field as both teams will go head to head in a 3 game series starting Friday. The Mets are 4th in the NL East while the Dodgers are 2nd in the NL West. This will be their first meeting of the year.
Game 1: 7:10 PM ET
Game 2: 7:15 PM ET
Game 3: 1:10 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :
The Dodgers will be coming off a hard-fought series against the Cubs as they will cap off their 6 game road trip by going up against the New York Mets, the Dodgers are now in 2nd place of the NL West division and they are only 1 1/2 games behind the D-Backs for the top spot in the division, the Dodgers have definitely turned their season around after the bad start to the year they have now won 22 of their last 29 games. Playing against the Mets will give the Dodgers an opportunity to overtake the D-Backs in the NL West division. They are 18-15 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Dodgers are 7th in batting with 339 runs scored this season and 9th in pitching with a 3.58 ERA on the year.
Player to watch in this series: Yasiel Puig, he is having a monster June so far, hitting .417 (15-for-36) with five doubles, three homers and nine RBI in 10 games since flipping the calendar from May. Players can go from cold to hot just like that many factors influences how the player will perform some players bat well at home but they disappear on the road. Despite all the factors, great players will always find a way to play well when their team needs them the most. I predict that Puig will put up monster numbers against the Mets on the road.
- RBIs: Matt Kemp (43)
- Homers: Max Muncy (13)
- Batting Average: Matt Kemp (.327)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Alex Wood, he will be starting things off for the Dodgers in the series opener against the Mets, he is 2-5 on the season with a 4.22 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. In his last performance, he limited the Giants to one run over 5 2/3 innings.
Game 2: Caleb Ferguson, he allowed four runs, three earned and two hits with a walk and six strikeouts over five innings in a loss Sunday against San Francisco. He will get his 3rd start of the year against the struggling Mets, great opportunity for him to pick up his first win of the season.
Game 3: Kenta Maeda, he surrendered three earned runs over just 3 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs. He owns a 3.84 ERA and 1.39 WHIP as he will close things out for the Dodgers in the rubber game against the Mets.
New York Mets's Latest Performance :
The Mets have now won 3 of their last 4 games as they will head back home to host a 6 game homestand. They will play the Dodgers in a 3 game series, despite the Mets playing well lately they are still in the 4th place of the NL East division and the Mets season is starting to look like a lost season. They are now 11 games back of the division leader the Braves. Coming into this series the Mets are 19th in pitching with a 4.14 ERA and 26th in batting with 275 runs scored this season. It will be a tough 3 game series against the Dodgers considering how bad the Mets are this season at home.
Player to watch in this series: Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs. He is slashing .275/.316/.476, and he has picked up three consecutive multi-hit games after an awful 1-for-20 skid. Despite the recent skid, he has been the second-most effective hitter behind Brandon Nimmo. He has racked up 29 extra-base hits, including 12 homers, I expect him to play well against the red-hot Dodgers.
- RBIs: Asdrubal Cabrera (39)
- Homers: Asdrubal Cabrera and Brandon Nimmo have 12.
- Batting Average: Asdrubal Cabrera (.275)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Zack Wheeler, in his last eight starts, he owns a 4.24 ERA, 48 strikeouts and 17 walks in 46 2/3 innings. He is, however, 0-3 over that stretch. In his last start, he allowed two earned runs, three hits, and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the D-Backs.
Game 2: Jacob deGrom, he allowed two runs one earned over eight innings in a rout of the Rockies on Monday. He has second-lowest ERA through 15 starts with a 1.51 ERA.
Game 3: Jason Vargas, he allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings last time out against the Rockies, he now has a ERA of 8.60. With Noah returning he must do a better job on the mound if he wants to keep his spot on the rotation.
How Los Angeles Dodgers & New York Mets Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Mets are 6-2 in their last 8 vs. National League West.
Dodgers are 10-1 in their last 11 road games.
Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Dodgers
My reason for the pick :
I expect the Dodgers to play well on the road against a struggling Mets team at home, the Dodgers batting will have their ways against the Mets pitchers as they should be able to win 2 games out of 3 in this series. It is tough for the Mets that they can’t seem to turn things around after a great start to the season, they will have to start to think about next season and figure out what went wrong after the dream start winning 9 games in a row. For the Dodgers, they have climbed all the way up from the last position and now they will have a shot at overtaking the D-Backs to become the NL West division leader once again reminding us all who was the NL Champion last season.
Betting trends for Los Angeles Dodgers:
- Dodgers are 22-7 in their last 29 overall.
Betting trends for New York Mets:
- Mets are 16-35 in their last 51 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
