Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Toronto Blue Jays vs Houston Astro's
The Houston Astro’s will take on the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night kicking off a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. The Houston Astro’s, winners of nine out of their last ten, look to extend another win streak against the AL East’s third-place team. The Blue Jays have struggled this season going 5-5 in their last ten.
The Astro’s will put ace starter Garrit Cole (8-1, 2.59 ERA) on the mound in game 1 against J.A. Happ (9-3, 3.56 ERA) in what should be a solid righty vs. left battle. Game 2 will feature Charlie Morton (9-1, 2.74 ERA) against Toronto’s Aaron Sanchez (3-5, 4.42 ERA). In Game 3, Dallas Keuchel (4-8, 4.15 ERA) will face-off against Toronto’s Maro Estrada (4-6, 4.66 ERA).
Toronto Blue Jays's Latest Performance :
The Toronto Blue Jays are currently tied for third place with the Tampa Bay Rays who both sit 17 games back behind the first-place New York Yankees and 15 games behind the second-place Boston Red Sox. Who knew the AL East would be this tough. The Jays won’t be catching either team anytime soon, so if they want a shot at the playoffs, they need to move past the Rays and secure that third spot.
Their next couple of series certainly won’t help them move up in the division unless they place lights out baseball.
Houston Astro's's Latest Performance :
The Houston Astros are on a roll plain and simple. Even outfielder Jeff Reddick found time to propose to his girlfriend on an off day. They are still 3.5 games ahead of the Mariners in the AL West who have dropped their last four. The Astros sit in elite company with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees as the only three teams in MLB to have eclipsed the half-century mark in wins this unpredictable season.
The Astros are playing well home and away and are looking into the eyes of the playoffs with intensity. We’ll see what they’re really made of after the All-Star break.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Both teams are starting ace pitchers and should be a solid match-up on the mound. Where both teams could falter is in the later innings. Any pitching changes could present some issues when drawing from the bullpen. Neither team has been all that consistent when relievers come calling, but expect some hits and some runs when all is said and done. As the series wears on, the pitching caliber sways to the Astros favor which typically results in offense.
