New York Mets vs Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins take on the New York Mets in Marlins Park on Friday night kicking off a 3-game series over the weekend. Both teams have had their share of struggles this season and remain half a game apart in the NL East occupying the fourth and fifth spots in the division.
The Mets will start right-hander Jacob DeGrom (5-3, 1.69 ERA) on the mound against Caleb Smith (5-6, 4.19 ERA) in game one to kick off the series. In game two, Seth Lugo (2-3, 2.76 ERA) battles Daniel Straily (3-3, 4.82 ERA) and in the series finale, Steve Matz (3-5, 3.68 ERA) will take the mound against ?????? for the Marlins
New York Mets's Latest Performance :
The Mets are losing in bunches. They’ve dropped their last seven and are in danger of slipping into the dreaded last place spot in the NL East. They played a sloppy game against the Pirates on Monday night which was indicative of their play which has seen them go 3-7 in their last ten. It’s been a combination of awful defense, inconsistent offense, and poor pitching except for the likes of Jacob DeGrom (who might be traded to the Yankees).
Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :
The Miami Marlins are in the midst of some pitching drama. Especially, one stemming from a game Tuesday night where it is believed that pitcher Dan Straily intentionally hit Giants catcher Buster Posey in retaliation for Giants pitcher hitting Dereck Rodriguez earlier in the game. With a 5-game suspension looming for Straily’s actions coupled with pitcher Caleb Smith’s injury and Joe Urena still on the disabled list, the Marlins bullpen is in some trouble.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
One team can’t win and the other team has strung a few wins together in hopes of moving up the ladder in the East. Both teams are miles behind the first-place Braves, so this series seems to be more about not being last rather than being first. Game one will at least feature two solid pitchers with winning records facing off against each other. Getting the first win in this 3-game series is a step in the right direction for either team. It should dictate the outcome of the series to a degree, but the way their seasons have been going, this one is a total toss-up.
