Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees

The Yankees will welcome the Red Sox to Yankee Stadium as the two top teams from the AL East will go head to head in a three-game series. The Yankees are first in the division while the Red Sox are right behind them in second place. This will be their 3rd meeting of the season, the season series is currently tied at 1-1. The rivalry resumes on Friday.

Game 1: 7:05 PM ET

Game 2: 7:15 PM ET

Game 3: 8:08 PM ET

Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :

The Red Sox will begin their 9 game road trip as they will take on the division rivals Yankees in a 3 game series. The Red Sox are 27-15 when playing away from home this season, they only trail the Yankees by 1/2 a game they will use this opportunity to close down the gap and potentially retake the lead in the AL East division. The Red Sox are coming off a dominant series win against the Mariners and the Angels at home they will be hoping that they can carry over their great performances at home on to the road against the Yankees. Coming into this series the Red Sox are 5th in pitching with a 3.48 ERA and 2nd best in batting with 413 runs scored this season. This Red Sox batting is stacked from top to bottom it will be very interesting how they match up against the Yankees.

Player to watch in this series: Jackie Bradley, he went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, he has finally joined the batting crew after slumping for so long. The Red Sox went deep four times, with Bradley hitting one of the three over the boards, It makes consecutive three-hit games for him, which is certainly notable considering he has managed just two other three-hit contests this season, he will be the wild card for the Red Sox against the Yankees.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: J.D. Martinez (61)
  • Homers: J.D. Martinez (24)
  • Batting Average: Mookie Betts (.338)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Eduardo Rodriguez, he will start things off for the Red Sox, he surrendered five runs (four earned) on seven hits over four innings in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners. He had not allowed more than two runs in any of his previous six starts. He is 9-2 on the season with a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP.

Game 2: Chris Sale, he struck out 13 batters across seven shutout frames in the Red Sox’ 5-0 victory over the Mariners on Sunday. It is the second game in a row that he reached double-digit strikeouts. He will take on a huge challenge on the road against the Yankees on Saturday. He is 7-4 on the season with a 2.56 ERA and .93 WHIP.

Game 3: David Price, he will finish things off for the Red Sox as he tossed six innings of one-run ball Tuesday in the Red Sox’ 9-1 win over the Angels in his last performance. He hasn’t given up more than three runs in a start since May 3 and his 3.66 ERA is the lowest it’s been since April.

New York Yankees's Latest Performance :

The Yankees were able to bounce back after being swept by the Rays, now they are on the verge of sweeping the Phillies. The Yankees have the best record in the Majors they are 52-25 on the season and 29-11 when playing at home. The Yankees will now have to be ready as they will welcome the Red Sox to play in a 3 game series. Both teams have been going neck to neck all season long and with the way, both teams are playing they could potentially be the American Leauge finals match up. The Yankees are only 1/2 a game ahead of the Red Sox this shows you how important is this series for both teams. Coming into this series the Yankees are 3rd best in batting with 398 runs scored this season and 2nd best in pitching with an ERA of 3.37.

Player to watch in this series: As we all know that the Yankees batting line up is stacked and anyone can put up big numbers at any given time, Aaron Hicks will be the X-Factor for the Yankees against the Red Sox. He went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a pair of RBI,  He hit a homer over the center field wall to lead off the game. He later added a single and a sacrifice fly and scored an additional run. The homer was the 11th of the season for Hicks, who is now just four off his career high. I won’t be surprised if he plays really well against the Red Sox in the 3 game series.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Aaron Judge (52)
  • Homers: Aaron Judge (20)
  • Batting Average: Aaron Judge (.277)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: CC Sabathia, he has lost his last two starts, both to the Rays, despite limiting them to five runs (four earned) with 14 strikeouts over 13 innings. He faced Boston on May 10 in the Bronx, allowing four runs and nine hits over four innings.

Game 2: Sonny Gray, he will take the mound for the second game against the Red Sox, he surrendered four runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings in Saturday’s loss to the Rays. He is 5-5 on the season with 4.93 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 15 starts.

Game 3: Luis Severino, he will close things out for the Yankees in the rubber game he improved to 11-2 after striking out nine across seven shutout innings in the Yankees’ 6-0 victory over the Phillies. The Yankees are 15-2 when he pitches.

How Boston Red Sox & New York Yankees Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Yankees are 30-11 in their last 41 games following a win.

Red Sox are 6-2 in their last 8 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Against The Spread Selection: Boston Red Sox

My reason for the pick :

This will be a very tight series between the Red Sox and the Yankees as I predict that the Red Sox will beat out the Yankees 2-1 on the road and they will do it with their elite pitchers. Game 1 and 2 will go to the Red Sox as the rubber game will go to the Yankees courtesy for Severino. No one at this point of the season can outpitch him this is why I am giving the rubber game to the Yankees. Nevertheless, it will be a highly contested series with high-quality baseball being played. At the end of the day when two elite teams face off the one who comes up on top has the better starting pitcher.

Red Sox to beat out their rival Yankees on the road 2-1.

Betting trends for Boston Red Sox:

  • Red Sox are 23-8 in their last 31 after allowing 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Betting trends for New York Yankees:

  • Yankees are 37-15 in their last 52 vs. a team with a winning record.
