Minnesota Twins's Latest Performance :

The Minnesota Twins come into this game losers of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-1-1.  Recently, the Twins would win a 3-game home set versus the Boston Red Sox on 6-21-2018 yet would fall in a 3-game home set versus the Texas Rangers despite winning the finale by a 2-0 score.  Of course, they would go on to lose in game 1 of a 3-game road set against the Chicago White Sox on 6-26-2018.

For the season, the Twins are averaging 4.20 runs per game (20th) with a team batting average of .237 (23rd), 77 homers (25th) along with 25 stolen bases (27th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.22 (19th) with 679 strikeouts (15th) along with 32 quality starts on the year (18th).

Eduardo Escobar (.292 BA on 274 AB), Joe Mauer (.262 BA on 172 AB), Max Kepler (.220 BA on 255 AB), and Brian Dozier (.221 BA on 294 AB) have been consistent within the Twins offense this season; However, Eddie Rosario (.315 BA on 295 AB) has been instrumental in their offensive attack as well.

Pitcher Kyle Gibson (2-5, 88.2 IP, 33 R, 68 H, 9 HR, 39 BB, 86 SO, 3.25 ERA) and Jose Berrios (8-5, 103 IP, 36 R, 77 H, 12 HR, 20 BB, 109 SO, 3.15 ERA) have led the Twins pitching staff thus far.  Jake Odorizzi (3-5, 79.2 IP, 47 R, 81 H, 14 HR, 36 BB, 80 SO, 4.97 ERA) has also been solid for Minnesota this year.

Chicago Cubs 's Latest Performance :

The Cubs come into this game losers of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 4-1.  Recently, the Cubs would be swept in a 4-game road set to the Cincy Reds on 6-24-2018, yet, they would go on to tie their current road series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers by picking up a 9-4 win in game 2 after a 2-1 loss on 6-25-2018.

For the season, the Cubs are averaging 4.79 runs per game (6th) with a team batting average of .258 (5th), 81 homers (20th) along with 35 stolen bases (18th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.38 (3rd) with 654 strikeouts (21st) with 33 quality starts on the season, good for 13th in the MLB.

Kris Bryant (.280 BA on 264 AB), Kyle Schwarber (.237 BA on 228 AB), and Javier Baez (.276 BA on 272 AB) have spearheaded the Cubs offensive attack this year.  Wilson Contreras has also been critical to the scoring attack with a batting average of .268 on 246 at bats.

How Minnesota Twins & Chicago Cubs Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Twins are 42-33 ATS while the O/U is 35-37-3.  On the other hand, the Cubs are 41-36 ATS while the O/U is 32-43-2.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Neither of the pitchers for both squads have been named for this weekend’s series against these two teams, however, both teams come into this matchup as losers of 9 of their last 17 (Twins) and 7 of their last 10 games (Cubs).  Essentially, 2 potential scenarios can present themselves during this matchup: (1) The Cubs come out of their funk and light up a Twins pitching staff that has allowed close to 7 runs per game in their last 5 outings, or, (2) the Twins will begin to catch fire against a struggling Cubs pitching staff that is allowing around 5 runs per game in their last 5 outings.  Either way, some runs will be scored in this series due to how both teams are performing at this time in the season.

Totals Selection: Picks: Game 1, 2, 3, 4: Over

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the over in this contest in that these teams are going through some tough times both on the mound and at the plate.  As it relates to their pitching staffs, both teams have played lackluster recently thus being the main catalysts for their team’s current troubles, particularly, as it relates to the Cubs.  However, with a lineup as strong as the Cubs, one would be confused as to thinking that any opposing pitcher would be able to lock down the weapons in which they possess.  Nonetheless, both teams will eventually break out of their funk soon, and I expect this to be the series in which this will be accomplished as both teams will put some runs on the board in which to gain some confidence moving forward.  Expect the over to be the play throughout this series.
