Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Indians vs Kansas City Royals

The Royals will welcome division leader Indians to Kauffman Stadium as the two teams from the AL Central will go head to head in a 3 game series starting on Monday. The Royals are in the last place of the division while the Indians are leading the AL Central division. This will be their 3rd meeting of the season, the Indians lead the season series 2-0 over the Royals.

All games will be played at 8:15 PM ET

Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :

The Indians will cap off their 9 game road trip as they will take on the last place Royals in a 3 game series, this is a great opportunity for the Indians to bounce back after losing 3 of their last 4 games. The Indians will be looking to protect the lead they have on top of the division they are now 8 games ahead of the Twins. The Indians are not a good road team this season they are only 19-23 when playing away from home this season. Coming into this series the Indians are 6th in batting with 392 runs scored this season and 13th in pitching with a 3.90 ERA.

Player to watch in this series: Michael Brantley, for the Indians to win Brantley will have to play well against the Royals as he has the best batting average at .307 the Indians are now in a very comfortable spot at the moment but it doesn’t mean they are allowed to relax, they should be able to win series against teams that are weaker than them. Playing the Royals would allow Brantley to showcase his batting talent. He is having a great year for the Indians he is slashing .307/.356/.496 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Edwin Encarnacion (54)
  • Homers: Jose Ramirez (23)
  • Batting Average: Michael Brantley (.307)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Corey Kluber, he will start things off for the Indians against the Royals on Monday. He will look to bounce back after lasting just 1 2/3 innings and allowing six runs in a loss to the Cardinals.

Game 2: Shane Bieber, he gave up one run in six innings and was credited with a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday. He is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in four starts. He’s got 27 strikeouts and just four walks in 24 1/3 innings.

Game 3: Trevor Bauer, he allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings Friday against the A’s. He went just 3-3 in June, but he ends the month with a 2.18 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. He will take the mound for the Indians in the rubber game against the Royals.

Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :

The Royals will be back at Kauffman Stadium for a 6 game homestand beginning Monday. The homestand opens with a three-game series against the Indians. The Royals have one of the worst home records in the Majors they are 11-29 when playing at home this season. The Royals have allowed the most homers this season as they now lose for the 20th time in 25 games, the pitchers have allowed 129 runs while going 5-20 in the month of June. It is very hard to win games with numbers like that. It doesn’t get any easier for the Royals as they prepare to face the Indians. Coming into this series the Royals are last in batting and pitching with 284 runs scored and a 5.19 ERA respectively.

Player to watch in this series: Mike Moustakas, he is the arguably the best batter on this Royals team and has caused a lot of interest as the trade deadline is looming. He was the only batter who was able to produce a run for the Royals it is very hard to win games if you are the only player producing for the team. The best option for him would be if he decides to go and play elsewhere, I expect him to do well against the Indians but his efforts won’t be enough as this has been the storyline for the Royals all season long. Moustakas is slashing .258/.313/.467 with 50 RBIs and 15 homers on the season.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Mike Moustakas (50)
  • Homers: Mike Moustakas (15)
  • Batting Average: Jon Jay (.291)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Jakob Junis, he surrendered five runs and three homers in five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Brewers.  He is up to 22 homers allowed in 96 1/3 innings this year. He will take the mound on Monday against the Indians.

Game 2: Danny Duffy, he was handed a no-decision after tossing six scoreless frames Friday against the Astros. He takes the mound on Tuesday he is 4-9 on the season and is working on a 4.94 ERA.

Game 3: Ian Kennedy, he surrendered three runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Mariners. He gave up just three hits, but two were homers that accounted for all of the runs and three runs. He has now lost 8 straight games. He will close things out for the Royals in the rubber game against the Indians.

How Cleveland Indians & Kansas City Royals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Royals are 3-8 in their last 11 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Indians are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.

Against The Spread Selection: Cleveland Indians

My reason for the pick :

The Indians should be able to cruise past the Royals despite hitting a slight slump. I predict a 3 game sweep for the Indians over the Royals. The Royals will have no answer for the Indians batter as the Royals pitchers will continue to struggle on the mound and give up runs after runs. It is tough for the Royals to make an impact this season considering how bad their team is at home, the Indians will use this opportunity to improve their road record. The Royals will have to blow up their team and start from scratch trade their best player and acquire as many as assets as they can.

Indians to sweep the Royals on the road 3-0.

Betting trends for Cleveland Indians:

  • Indians are 51-23 in their last 74 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Betting trends for Kansas City Royals:

  • Royals are 17-40 in their last 57 vs. a team with a winning record.
