The Rockies will welcome the Giants to Coors Field as the two teams from the NL West will go head to head in a 3 game series starting Monday. The Rockies are currently in 4th place while the Giants are in 3rd. This will be their 4th meeting of the season, the Giants are leading the season series 2-0, in their second meeting the series ended in a 2-2 split.
Game 1: 8:40 PM ET
Game 2&3: 8:10 PM ET
San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :
The Giants will cap off their 6 game NL West road trip as they will take on the Rockies once again but this time on the road. The Giants are now in 3rd place of the NL West with a record of 43-40. They are not a great road team this season they are 17-26 when playing away from home. Coming into this series the Giants are 15th in pitching with a 4.01 ERA and 21st in batting with 341 runs scored this season. Giants will have to be without their main batter Evan Longoria for 6 weeks and they are hoping that someone can fill in his spot while he is gone.
Player to watch in this series: Austin Slater, he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI he is the perfect candidate to fill in for Longoria during his absence. His line in with the Triple-A was .344/.417/.564 with 24 doubles and five homers in 53 games. If he is able to replicate these kinds of numbers in the Majors he might have secured himself a roster spot with the Giants. He will have a chance to prove himself again when the Giants visit the Rockies on the road.
- RBIs: Brandon Belt (37)
- Homers: Brandon Belt (13)
- Batting Average: Brandon Crawford (.313)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Madison Bumgarner, he allowed two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Rockies. He has 3 straight quality start dropping his ERA to 2.51. He takes the mound on Monday.
Game 2: Chris Stratton, he surrendered five runs in four innings Thursday against the Rockies. He will have another crack against them on Tuesday. He is 8-5 on the season and is working on a 4.45 ERA.
Game 3: Andrew Suarez, he pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Diamondbacks on Friday. He is 3-4 on the season and has a 4.18 ERA and 1.28 WHIP as he will close things off for the Giants against the Rockies.
Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :
The Rockies will return home for a short 3 game homestand as they will take on the Giants. The Rockies have dropped to 4th place in the NL West division with a record of 40-42 they are 7 games back of the top spot in the division they are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Playing against the Giants would allow them to cut the gap and take them over in the standings. The Rockies aren’t a good team at home this season they are only 15-22 when playing at Coors Field. Coming into this series the Rockies are 7th in batting with 385 runs scored this season, however, their pitching has to improve as they are ranked 29th with a 5.04 ERA. If the Rockies loses out the opportunity to close out the gap it will make their job making the postseason even harder.
Player to watch in this series: Nolan Arenado, he went 2-for-4 and hit his 20th homer Friday against the Dodgers. He was able to hit 9 homers in June as I expect him to do well playing against the Giants at home. He has hit well against San Francisco pitching this season, going 11-for-30 (.367) with three doubles, a home run, and seven RBI. His line this season is .310/.394/.593 with 57 RBI. He is truly playing like an all-star this season. The Rockies will have to figure out how to play well at home once they have figured that out they will become unstoppable.
- RBIs: Trevor Story (58)
- Homers: Nolan Arenado (20)
- Batting Average: Nolan Arenado (.310)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Kyle Freeland, he allowed just four singles and a walk over seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a no-decision. He is now 7-6 0n the season and working on a 3.29 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
Game 2: Jon Gray, he pitched four innings and allowed five runs Thursday against the Giants. He will take the mound on Tuesday once again against the Giants. He has a 5.77 ERA, even though his 119/29 K/BB ratio in 92 innings.
Game 3: Tyler Anderson, he will have a chance to redeem himself at home he still has a 4.23 ERA when playing at home, he is coming off a great pitching performance against the Dodgers as he blanked them for 8 innings while striking out 8. He allowed a total of three runs over 22 innings as he will close things off at home for the Rockies against the Giants.

Giants are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. National League West.
Against The Spread Selection: San Francisco Giants
My reason for the pick :
The Giants should be able to beat out the Rockies on the road as I predict a 2-1 series win for the Giants. The Rockies will continue to struggle at home while the Giants will be able to beat out the Rockies yet again and extend the lead away from the 4th place Rockies. The Rockies will soon realize how important are home games and their inability for them to win at home will come back and haunt them, all the Rockies needs to do is shift their mindset and treat every home game like a road game to achieve better results down the road if not the Rockies will be heading towards a lost season.
The Giants to beat the Rockies on the road 2-1.
