Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :
The Dodgers are on the verge of sweeping the series against the Pirates as they now prepare themselves for a 7 game road trip, the Dodgers offense has been on another level in this series against the Pirates the Dodgers were able to put up 25 runs in the span of 2 games, they are on fire. The Dodgers will be hoping that they will bring this kind of batting performance with them on the road. The Dodgers are 1 1/2 behind the D-Backs for the top spot in the division, they are 21-16 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Dodgers are 6th in pitching with a 3.58 ERA and 7th in batting with 411 runs scored this season.
Player to watch in this series: Max Muncy, he went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Tuesday’s 8-3 victory. He is the catalyst in the Dodgers offense usually when he plays well the Dodgers usually end up winning the game, he is well aware of how close his team is to take over the NL West in the standings so he will be on his A-game during the road trip. He has three homers in three games in July, and he has seven long balls over his past 11 games dating back to June 22. He now has 20 homers on the season to go with 38 RBIs.
- RBIs: Matt Kemp (55)
- Homers: Max Muncy (20)
- Batting Average: Matt Kemp (.318)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Kenta Maeda, he allowed three runs two earned over seven innings with nine strikeouts in a loss to the Rockies on Saturday. He owns a 3.36 ERA and will be on the mound Friday against the Angels.
Game 2: Ross Stripling, he allowed four earned runs, nine hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision Sunday against Colorado. He is 6-2 on the season with a 2.27 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.
Game 3: Alex Wood, he will close things out in the rubber game against the Angels. He has pitched well over his past five starts after his struggles near the end of May/beginning of June, and his ERA has dropped from 4.43 to 3.84.
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
The Angels will be back at Angel Stadium for a 6 game homestand beginning Friday. The homestand opens with a three-game series against the red-hot Dodgers. The Angels are coming off a hard-fought series against their division rivals Mariners. The Angels currently have a .500 record they are 43-43 on the season and they have a losing record at home. It will be a tough series for the Angels considering how hot the Dodgers are right now after a slow start to the season. Coming into this series the Angels are 12th in batting with 379 runs scored this season and 13th in pitching with a 3.91 ERA. The Angels are now 6-15 against left-handed starters this season.
Player to watch in this series: Shohei Ohtani, all eyes will be on Ohtani in this series as he will play at home for the first time since his injury and what a way to prove to his home fans that he hasn’t lost a step, I expect him to play well in this series despite the rough return. He has a .289/.372/.535 batting line over his first 129 major league plate appearances. Players who are bound to be great often show up during big games. With him coming back into the rotation he can help ease the pressure off Trout because Ohtani is able to carry the offensive load as well.
- RBIs: Mike Trout (49)
- Homers: Mike Trout (24)
- Batting Average: (.318)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Jamie Barria, he pitched well in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits over his 5 1/3 innings. The rookie pitched to a respectable 1-3 record with a 3.96 ERA over five June starts. He hasn’t completed six innings in his last four outings. He will take the mound on Wednesday for the Angels.
Game 2: Felix Pena, he went for 5 1/3 shutout innings against the Orioles and earned his first win of the season on Friday. He will try to get his second win of the season against the Dodgers. He is 1-0 with a 3.71 ERA through three starts and two relief appearances this year.
Game 3: Andrew Heaney, he allowed three earned runs, five hits, and two walks with 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a loss at Seattle on Tuesday. He’ll try to get back into the win column on Sunday in the rubber game against the Dodgers. He is 4-6 on the season with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Dodgers
My reason for the pick :
The Dodgers have all the momentum on their side as they are starting to look like the National Leauge Champion we saw last season everything seems to click for them at this point of the season and the 17 runs outburst are just preview of things to come. As hot as the Dodgers are right now I will have to predict that the Dodgers will sweep the Angels on the road, the Dodgers are on a roll and no one can stop them and they will be on top of the NL West division by the end of this month. After a slow start, the Dodgers are showing us that you have to trust the process and play the long game in order to succeed in this league.
