Game 3: 12:10 PM ET
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Tigers will begin their 6 game road trip against the Rays in a three-game set. The Tigers are 3rd in the AL Central division with a record of 39-51 they are 12 games back for the top spot in the division. The Tigers aren’t a really good team on the road they are 15-29 on the season. They are coming off a series opener victory against the Rangers. The Tigers can’t seem to replicate their performance at home on the road this season this is one of the reasons why the Tigers record this season isn’t that great. Coming into this series the Tigers are 23rd in batting with 369 runs scored this season and 22nd in pitching with a 3.53 ERA.
Player to watch in this series: James McCann, he struck a 2-run homer to put the Tigers ahead in his last performance, it would prove to be the difference-maker in the ballgame. He is still trying to figure things out after having a breakout year in 2017. The homer might have given him the confidence that he needed. He is slashing .224/.270/.324 with five home runs and 25 RBI. A good player like him will find a way to turn things around he has to realize that the regular season is a marathon, not a sprint.
- RBIs: Nicholas Castellanos (54)
- Homers: Nicholas Castellanos (14)
- Batting Average: Nicholas Castellanos (.302)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Franciso Liriano, he was tagged for five hits and three runs over six innings Wednesday in the Tigers’ loss to Chicago. He is hoping to turn things around on the road against the Rays he has gone 8 starts without a win.
Game 2: Matthew Boyd, he allowed seven runs six earned over four innings in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday. He allowed two homers among his seven hits allowed, giving him eight home runs allowed in his last seven starts after giving up only 3 homers in his first 10 starts. He has a 4.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.
Game 3: Jordan Zimmerman, he was able to pick up 11 strikeouts over eight innings of one-run baseball in his last outing for the Tigers. In his last three starts, he owns a stellar 0.90 ERA and 20/1 K/BB ratio across 20 innings. He’ll look to keep it going against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Tampa Bay Rays's Latest Performance :
The Rays will be back at Tropicana Field for a 3 game homestand against the Tigers. The Rays are 23-17 when playing at home this season, the Rays have really turned it up they are now 1 game away from having a .500 record. The Rays are coming off an impressive series sweep over the World Series Champions Astros the last time they played at Tropicana they are hoping that they will be able to replicate the same result against the Tigers. Coming into this series the Rays are 27th in scoring with 335 runs scored this season however they are a much-improved pitching team they are now 8th with a 3.60 ERA.
Player to watch in this series: Willy Adames, his fifth-inning solo shot was the only offense of the night for the Rays. He has .231/.282/.372 batting line to go along with three homers and a 31/6 K/BB ratio over 23 games. That is really impressive considering how many games he has under his belt he will continue to improve no matter what the result will be he will still remain confident on the plate. He could potentially become a great player for the Rays in the future. After an impressive showing against an elite team like the Yankees he should be able to pull out a great performance at home against the Tigers.
- RBIs: Wilson Ramos (45)
- Homers: C.J. Cron (16)
- Batting Average: Matt Duffy (.310)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Chris Archer, he is set to make his comeback against the Tigers in the series opener on Monday. He worked four no-hit innings Tuesday in a rehab start with High-A Port Charlotte. He is 3-4 in the Majors and has a 4.24 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.
Game 2: Matt Andriese, he allowed just one hit over two scoreless frames Wednesday in the Rays’ loss to Miami. He will get another start against the Tigers on Tuesday. He has a 3.71 ERA over 51 innings this season.
Game 3: Ryan Yarbrough, the Rays are using a three-man rotation at the moment because of the injuries of their starting pitchers. This means he will get his start in the rubber game against the Tigers. He will have to be ready for the opportunity to start.
How Detroit Tigers & Tampa Bay Rays Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Rays are 9-4 in their last 13 vs. a team with a losing record.
Tigers are 3-14 in their last 17 overall.
Against The Spread Selection: Tampa Bay Rays
My reason for the pick :
The Rays pitching will come through for the Rays at home as they will pick up a 2-1 series win over the Tigers. The Rays have been great at home in these last few months and I don’t see that trending changing anytime soon. Archer will have an impressive return to the mound as he and his team will pick up the victory in game 1. Game 2 will go to the Rays as Andriese will put up a masterful pitching performance and in the rubber game Zimmerman will follow up his 11 strikeout game with another impressive performance closing out the rubber game for the Tigers. The Rays will soon realize how important a single pitch can determine an outcome of the game.
The Rays to beat the Tigers at home 2-1.

- Rays are 4-1 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
