Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Detroit Tigers have lost 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-3-1. The Tigers would be swept in a 2-game road set versus the Cubs on 7-4-2018 while getting the tie in a 4-game home set against the Texas Rangers on 7-8-2018. The momentum from this series was lost in the first 2 games of a 3-game road set against the Rays as the Tigers would lose both games with game 2 being a 5-2 loss.

Houston Astros's Latest Performance :
The Houston Astros have won 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-2. Recently, the Astros would sweep a 2-game road set at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, against the Rangers on 7-4-2018. Houston would go on to win the first 2 games of a 4-game set against the Chicago White Sox by outscoring them by a total of 15-7 while also winning the last 2 games by a combined score of 13-7. Their hot offensive play would not translate into game 1 of a 4-game home set against the Astros as they would drop the opener by a 2-0 score; Yet, they would rebound in game 2 by winnings 6-5.
For the season, Houston is averaging 5.09 runs per game (3rd) with a team batting average of .262 (3rd), 120 homers (7th), along with 51 stolen bases on the year (9th). Their pitching staff ranks lowest in MLB stats with an ERA of 2.88 (1st) with 989 strikeouts (1st) along with 68 quality starts (1st).

How Detroit Tigers & Houston Astros Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Astros are 48-46 ATS while the O/U is 41-48-5. On the other hand, the Tigers are 48-46 ATS while the O/U is 37-54-3.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be the 1st meeting amongst these two teams in 2018 with the Astros winning 4 of the last 7 games and 3 of the last 4 at Minute Maid Park. The Astros continue to roll over their competition and have now won 7 of 8 coming into this matchup. The Tigers, on the other hand, have gone through a rough patch lately in losing 6 of 8 contests. In their last 6 losses, the offense for the Tigers have only put up 21 runs while the pitching staff has surrendered 35 runs during this time. The Astros have been on fire lately from the plate in averaging 4.4 runs in their last 4 outings while their pitching staff have matched that intensity surrendering 18 runs during this time (3.6 runs/game). In all, expect this to be another interesting series as Houston looks to continue to separate itself from its opponents within the AL West while the Tigers simply look to get back into the win column. It will not be easy against a Houston team that is 30-18 at home on the year.
Against The Spread Selection: Game 1, 2, 3, 4: Houston Astros
My reason for the pick :
The Detroit Tigers have played horrible lately, as stated. They have lost 17 of 21 games, altogether, while being 2-9 in their last 11 road games. Their offense has seemingly gone nonexistent and with such a solid pitching staff in the Astros, this series could be a bit miserable, once again, for the Tigers. On the other hand, their pitching has been awful in taking up the slack for the offense which will not bode well for them in that they will be facing one of the most dangerous offenses in the MLB in this matchup. In all, expect Houston to cruise throughout this series. It is not like the Tigers have been a stranger to being swept as they have not only been swept in 4 of their last 6 series, but, they are also on the verge of being swept in their current 3-game road set versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
