The Giants will welcome the Athletics to AT&T Park as the two teams will go head to head in a 3 game interleague series starting on Friday. The Giants are 3rd in the NL West while the A’s are 3rd in the AL West division. This will be their first meeting of the season.

Game 3: 4:05 PM ET
Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :
The A’s will cap off their 10 game road trip against the Giants in a 3 game set. The A’s are now 10 games above .500. The A’s have been playing really well lately, it was their fifth loss in their last 22 games. They have displayed an incredible comeback but it was unfortunate how the last game ended. The A’s are 27-20 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the A’s are 16th in pitching with a 4.01 ERA and 10th in batting with 419 runs scored this season.
Player to watch in this series: Stephen Piscotty, he homered for a fourth straight game to give the A’s a lead in the 11th inning Tuesday against the Astros. The lead failed to hold up, but it was another big moment for Piscotty. Eight of his 11 homers this year have come in his last 25 games. He is slashing .257/.319/.445 with 43 RBIs. He should be a huge factor against the Giants as he will look to close out the road trip and the first half of the season on the right foot.
- RBIs: Jed Lowrie (62)
- Homers: Khris Davis (21)
- Batting Average: Jed Lowrie (.287)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Trevor Cahill, he will be returning to the mound on Friday against the Giants after dealing with an Achilles injury he struck out seven across four scoreless innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. He is 1-2 on the season with a 2.77 ERA and .99 WHIP.
Game 2: Frankie Montas, he went six scoreless innings against the Astros picking up the win. He will be returning to the mound on Saturday against the Giants. He is 5-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.
Game 3: Sean Manaea, he allowed three runs in four innings Tuesday against the Astros. He is 8-6 on the season and has a 3.44 ERA and .99 WHIP. He will be closing out the series against the Giants.
San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :
The Giants will cap off a 10 game homestand as they will take on the A’s in a 3 game set, they are a solid home team this season they are 29-17 when playing at home. For the second half of the season, the Giants must find a way to win on the road that would make them relevant again in the NL West division they are now in 3rd place in the division and 4 games back of the top spot. The Giants have the talent to become a great team they just need to replicate what they do at home on to the road. Coming into this series the Giants are 21st in scoring with 282 runs scored this season and 17th in pitching with a 4.06 ERA.
Player to watch in this series: Brandon Belt, he went 2-for-4 in a win over the Cubs on Monday in extra innings. Both hits were singles, and Belt also walked; so he reached first three times in the victory over Chicago. The pair of hits raise the first baseman’s average to .303, and his on-base percentage perks up to .396. He is on the verge of having a breakout season for the Giants this season. He leads the team in batting average, homers, and RBIs. He should be a problem for a lot of opposing teams in the second half of the season.
- RBIs: Brandon Belt (42)
- Homers: Brandon Belt (13)
- Batting Average: Brandon Belt (.302)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Jeff Samardzija, he allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings in Saturday’s loss to the Cardinals. He has been out for the whole of June from a bout of inflammation in his right shoulder but he should be returning to regular pitching after the break. He takes the mound on Friday against the A’s with a 6.42 ERA and 1.67 WHIP.
Game 2: Madison Bumgarner, he allowed four earned runs, seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a Sunday’s 13-8 win against the Cardinals. He is 2-3 on the season with a 3.09 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.
Game 3: Andrew Suarez, he gave up one run in six innings while striking out five in a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday. This makes four starts in a row where the left-handed rookie has allowed one run, and he’s allowed two or less in six straight. The rookie now owns a 3.75 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP he will pitching in the rubber game against the A’s.

Against The Spread Selection: Oakland Athletics
My reason for the pick :
The momentum will be on the A’s side as they will be coming off a hard-fought series against the Astros this means the level of baseball that they have been playing will still remain high. Since it is the first meeting of the season between the two teams, it is tough to say who will come up on top but the A’s clearly have the advantage in the pitching department as I predict that the A’s pitchers will come through for them on the road against the Giants. The first two games should go to the A’s and the rubber game to the Giants.
The A’s to beat out the Giants on the road 2-1 in a three-game series.
