Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Seattle Mariners vs Colorado Rockies

The Rockies will welcome the Mariners to Coor Field as the two teams will go head to head in a 3 game interleague series starting on Friday. The Rockies are 4th in the NL West division while the Mariners are 2nd in the AL West division. This will be their 2nd meeting of the season, in the first meeting the Rockies were able to win on the road 2-1.

Game 1: 8:40 PM ET

Game 2: 9:10 PM ET

Game 3: 3:10 PM ET

Seattle Mariners's Latest Performance :

The Mariners will cap off their 6 game road trip playing against the Rockies in an interleague matchup. The Mariners are 26-18 when playing on the road this season. The Mariners will be looking to end the first half of the season on the right foot. Playing against the Rockies would give them the opportunity to cut into the gap of the Astros they are currently 4 games back of the top spot but still six ahead of the A’s for the AL’s second Wild spot. Coming into this series the Mariners are 14th in pitching with a 3.91 ERA and 17th in batting with 393 runs scored this season. The Mariners has won 10 of their 14 games, the four losses have come over the last six after the 8 game win streak.

Player to watch in this series: Mitch Haniger, he went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run. He entered the day just 3-for-16 (.188) with no homers or RBI so it was good to see that he was able to regain his confidence on the plate after going scoreless for 5 games. This is a good sign for the Mariners because if he gets going he will be hard to stop. He is slashing .274/.359/.502 with 17 doubles, two triples and 18 home runs with 65 RBI. I expect him to play well on the road against the Rockies.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Mitch Haniger (65)
  • Homers: Nelson Cruz (22)
  • Batting Average: Jean Segura (.329)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: James Paxton, he gave up four runs in seven innings and was charged with a loss against the Rockies on Saturday. He is 8-3 on the season with a 3.49 ERA and 1.07 WHIP after 19 starts. He ranks fifth in the major leagues with 154 strikeouts in 118 2/3 innings.

Game 2: Wade LeBlanc, he allowed four earned runs, five hits, and no walk with three strikeouts over six innings in a victory Sunday against the Rockies. He has a 5-0 record, 3.39 ERA, and 1.13 WHIP. He takes the mound on Saturday.

Game 3: Mike Leake, he allowed seven runs – five earned – and 11 hits over four innings with two walks and just one strikeout over four innings in a road loss against the Angels on Tuesday. He will be on the mound against the Giants on Sunday.

Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :

The Rockies will cap off their 6 game homestand against the Mariners in a three-game set. The Rockies still haven’t figured out their woes at home, they are 18-23 when playing at home, the Rockies went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position. Due to the struggles at home, the Rockies are now 4th in the NL West with a record of 46-45 on the year. Playing against the Mariners will be a tough challenge for the Rockies considering how well the Mariners are playing this season. Coming into this series the Rockies are  9th in batting with 42 runs scored this season and 26th in pitching with a 4.79 ERA. The teams’ bullpen must improve if they want to make a run into the postseason.

Player to watch in this series: Nolan Arenado, he went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored in. He has hit safely in seven of his eight games in the month of July while racking up three homers and seven RBI. He is on pace for 41 homers and 114 RBI which would be his fourth consecutive 100-RBI season. He will have to play well against the Mariners for the Rockies to win at home over the Mariners. On the season he slashing .309/.339/.593 with 23 homers and 64 RBIs.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Nolan Arenado (64)
  • Homers: Nolan Arenado (23)
  • Batting Average: (.309)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Antonio Senzatela, he allowed six earned runs, five hits, and three walks with just two strikeouts over six innings in a loss Sunday in Seattle. He is 3-2 on the season and owns a 5.34 ERA and 1.32 WHIP.

Game 2: Jon Gray, he should be making his return to the Major after a brief time at the Triple-A he will be on the mound Saturday against the Mariners. He is 7-7 on the season with a 5.77 ERA and 1.49 WHIP.

Game 3: Tyler Anderson, he struck out eight and held the D-Backs to one run and three hits in six innings which ended in a no-decision, he will bring his 3.76 ERA and 1.22 WHIP to the mound on Sunday as he will close things off against the Mariners in the rubber game.

How Seattle Mariners & Colorado Rockies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Rockies are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record.

Mariners are 36-15 in their last 51 games vs. a right-handed starter.

Against The Spread Selection: Seattle Mariners

My reason for the pick :

The Rockies will continue to struggle at home that will lead to another series loss at home, although the Rockies have been playing really well at home I don’t see them beating the Mariners. I predict a 2-1 series win favoring the Mariners. When the Mariners play this season it looks like they are playing with a chip on their shoulder and they have surprised lots of people in the Majors in how well they are playing this season. The Mariners should be the team to watch after the All-Star break they will have a late run in them to challenge the Astros for the top spot in the AL West division. For the Rockies, Arenado will have a great series. His lone effort won’t be enough to beat the Mariners at home.

Mariners to beat the Rockies 2-1 in a three-game series.

Betting trends for Seattle Mariners:

  • Mariners are 4-1 in their last 5 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Betting trends for Colorado Rockies:

  • Rockies are 7-2 in their last 9 home games.
