The Orioles will welcome the Rangers to Oriole Park as the two teams will go head to head in a 3 game series starting on Friday. The Orioles are in the last place of the AL East division while the Rangers are in the last place of the AL West. This will be their first meeting of the season.
Game 1: 7:05 PM ET
Game 2: 7:15 PM ET
Game 3: 1:05 PM ET
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
The Rangers are on the verge of getting swept by the Red Sox. The Rangers will cap off their 10 game road trip against an easier opponent that is the Orioles in a 3 game set. The Rangers are in the last place of the AL West with a record of 40-53, they are 21-25 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Rangers are 25th in pitching with a 4.65 ERA however they are 9th in batting with 412 runs scored this season. The Rangers pitching cost them the season the inability to protect the mound and giving up runs early in the season put them in a place where they are today. The Rangers are in a very tough situation and it is hard for them to make a comeback considering how competitive the AL West division is this season. With 21 1/2 games back of the top spot, the Rangers should rebuild for the future in the second half of the season.
Player to watch in this series: Shin-Soo Choo, he is the best batter on the team by far, all though he got his road on-base streak snapped on the road against the Red Sox I am certain that he will be able to bounce right back up and end the first half of the season on a good note. He is one of the reasons why the Rangers are ranked in the top 10 when it comes to batting. He is slashing .290/.399/.500 with 17 home runs and 42 RBI across 87 games played. To put this in context, he hit .261/.357/.423 with 22 home runs and 78 RBI for the entirety of the 2017 campaign. He will play well against the O’s on the road.
- RBIs: Nomar Mazara (56)
- Homers: Joey Gallo (21)
- Batting Average: Shin-Soo Choo (.290)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Cole Hamels, he surrendered seven runs (three earned) on five hits over 2/3 of an inning in Saturday’s 7-2 loss to the Tigers. He will try to rebound against the O’s on the road, he owns a 4.28 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 106/39 K/BB ratio (103 innings).
Game 2: Martin Perez, he will return to the starting lineup after suffering from a shoulder injury. He owns a 9.67 ERA over his first five starts for Texas.
Game 3: Mike Minor, he allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings to take a loss Monday against the Red Sox. He will return to the mound to close things out in the rubber game against the O’s. He is 6-5 on the season with a 4.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 78/22 K/BB ratio.
Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :
The Orioles are on the verge of picking up a series win against the Yankees. Anything can happen in baseball, the O’s are still firmly in the last place of AL East division with a record of 26-66, they have one of the worst home records in the Majors they are 14-30 when playing at home this season. It is hard for the O’s to make an impact at this point of the season this is because of their bad start to the season it makes it hard for them to turn things around. Coming into this series the O’s are 29th in batting with 324 runs scored this season and 28th in pitching with a 4.89 ERA. The best solution for the O’s is to start from scratch and rebuild the team from the ground up.
Player to watch in this series: Manny Machado, he homered twice and drove in three runs in the Orioles’ win. He smacked a solo shot to left off of Masahiro Tanaka in the fifth inning. He hit what was initially ruled a long opposite-field single in the seventh. It is his fifth multi-homer game this season, and he is now up to 23 homers overall. I won’t be surprised if he gets traded before the deadline, he is such a great player, in my opinion, he is better off elsewhere which team he ends up going to will get a steal because Machado is really that good and is no longer just a hype. With the Machado gone the O’s can start the full rebuilding process.
- RBIs: Manny Machado (63)
- Homers: Manny Machado (23)
- Batting Average: Manny Machado (.314)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Alex Cobb, he pitched well but fell to 2-11 on Sunday, getting charged with 5 runs over 5 frames against the Twins. He has a 6.62 ERA and has a K/BB ratio of 60/25. He takes the mound on Friday.
Game 2: Jefry Ramirez, he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits over four-plus innings Monday in a loss to the Yankees. He’s now 0-3 in three starts and one relief appearance this season at the major league level. He will return on the mound on Saturday.
Game 3: Andrew Cashner, he struck out seven but was charged with five runs over 6 1/3 frames Tuesday, taking a no-decision in the Orioles’ 6-5 win over the Yankees. He will conclude his first half of the season pitching against the Rangers at home.
How Texas Rangers & Baltimore Orioles Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Orioles are 14-37 in their last 51 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Rangers are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. American League East.
Against The Spread Selection: Texas Rangers
My reason for the pick :
The Rangers should be able to take care of business on the road against the O’s who have been struggling at home all season. The Rangers will be looking to bounce back after playing against a tough opponent like the Red Sox. Choo will be great on the plate for the Rangers and as the trade deadline looming this means the O’s might have to lose their main players such as Manny Machado that makes it even harder for them to win games. Wins will be very hard to come by for the O’s going forward because they are rebuilding for the future and this season is already a lost season and there is not much the team can do to turn things around.
Rangers to beat the O’s on the road 2-1 before the season break.
Betting trends for Texas Rangers:
- Rangers are 17-36 in their last 53 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Betting trends for Baltimore Orioles:
- Orioles are 15-36 in their last 51 home games.
