Washington Nationals's Latest Performance :
The Nationals will use this opportunity to cut into the gap of the top spot which has ballooned to 5 1/2 games. The Nationals will be playing against the struggling Mets in a 3 game set. The Nationals are 24-21 when playing on the road this season. The Nationals now have a winning record they are one game above .500 they are back in the race for the top spot in the NL East Coming into this series the Nationals are 12th in pitching with a 3.87 ERA and 16th in batting with 400 runs scored this season.
Player to watch in this series: Daniel Murphy, he went 4-for-4 at the dish and scored a run on Tuesday. He doubled twice and singled twice, picking up one-third of the Nationals’ hits in this one. The veteran infielder has totaled seven hits over his last three games he is starting to heat up and should be a factor against the Mets on the road. He is slashing .250/.279/.338 with 10 RBIs.
The Nationals can’t afford to lose any more winnable games if they want the opportunity to contend for the National East because the Phillies and the Braves are playing really well so the Nationals will have to keep them in arm’s length and look for the opportunity to take over.
- RBIs: Bryce Harper (51)
- Homers: Bryce Harper (22)
- Batting Average: Anthony Redon (.278)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Tanner Roark, he allowed 10 hits and four runs over four innings on Sunday in a loss to the Marlins he now has a 4.76 ERA. He’ll try and lower his ERA when he faces the Mets lineup in his final game before the All-Star break on Friday.

New York Mets's Latest Performance :
The Mets will cap off their 10 game homestand against the Nationals as they will be playing in a 3 game set. The Mets are not a good home team at all this season they are 16-30 when playing at Citi Field. Wins are very hard to come by if you can’t win at home and playing against the Nationals who have a winning road record it is hard to beat them. Coming into this series the Mets are 28th in batting with 344 runs scored this season and 19th in pitching with a 4.34 ERA. After starting the season on a tear it is quite disappointing how the Mets are playing right now.
Player to watch in this series: Amed Rosario, he went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs scored. had four doubles, four triples, and four homers in 165 at-bats as a rookie last year. He’s now totaled four triples and four homers in 269 at-bats this year, but he has at least delivered 14 doubles. He will have to play well against the Nationals at home to give the Mets a chance to win, he is the only player that is producing any offense for the Mets at this point of the season, he is slashing .242/.286/.368 with 22 RBIs and 4 homers the Mets are hoping he heats up after the break.
- RBIs: Asdrubal Cabrera (51)
- Homers: Asdrubal Cabrera (16)

Game 1: Noah Syndergaard, he should be making his return to the mound on Friday against the Nationals. He is 4-1 on the season and has a 3.06 ERA and 1.18 WHIP.
Game 2: Zack Wheeler, he picked up eight strikeouts but was unable to get out of the fifth inning Monday, yielding three runs in the Mets’ 4-3 extra-innings win over the Phillies. He will try to close out the first half of the season on the right foot as he will be on the mound Saturday.

How Washington Nationals & New York Mets Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Mets are 16-35 in their last 51 home games vs. a team with a winning record.
Nationals are 2-5 in their last 7 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Against The Spread Selection: Washington Nationals
My reason for the pick :
The Nationals are looking to close out this first half of the season with a bang and they will end up doing just that as I predict that the Nationals will sweep the Mets on the road 3-0. The Mets will still can’t figure out why can’t they win at home as their home struggles will continue as the first half of the season comes to a close. The Nationals will be one inch closer to reclaim the top spot in the NL East. The Nationals pitchers will start to find their confidence on the mound as they were ranked 2nd in the Majors early this season. It goes to show that if the National pitchers pitch well the Nationals will end up winning that game and ultimately winning the series.
The Nationals will sweep the Mets on the road 3-0.
