Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :
The Braves will look to continue their best season yet as they will take on the Nationals on the road in a 3 game set, the Braves are looking like a team that can go into deeper rounds when it comes to the postseason. They have definitely turned the doubters around with their level of play in the first half of the season. The Braves are 27-22 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Braves are 10th in pitching with a 3.83 ERA and 8th in batting with 456 runs scored this season. Look for them to trade for a big name player before the trade deadline. The Braves have the opportunity to make a deep run heading into the postseason.
Player to watch in this series: Ozzie Albies, he has a .288 batting average with 20 home runs, 54 RBI and leads the National League with 73 runs scored. He’s also stolen nine bases. He has been great in the first half of the season and I expect him to continue his strong batting on the plate in the second half of the year. He is one of the big reason why the Braves are making the postseason this year.
- RBIs: Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis both have 61.
- Homers: Ozzie Albies (20)

Washington Nationals's Latest Performance :
The Nationals will kick things off in the second half of the season against the Braves in a 3 game set. This will be a great opportunity for the Nationals to cut into the gap of the NL East division, the Nationals are in the 3rd place of the division with a .500 record at 48-48. The Nationals are 22-24 when playing at home this season, it will be a very interesting series to watch because both teams are equally matched, the Nationals All-Star pitcher Scherzer will be making his appearance in the rubber game in this series. Coming into this series the Nationals are 18th in batting with 417 runs scored this season and 13th in pitching with a 3.87 ERA. They will look to upgrade their catcher heading into the second half of the season.
Player to watch in this series: Bryce Harper, he is coming off a Home Run Derby victory where he put up 19 homers to secure the win for the home crowd. I expect him to remain hot on the plate when he plays the Brave, he has to play well against the Braves for the Nationals to win a home against the Braves, he is slashing .214/.365/.468 with 23 homers and 54 RBIs. He leads the team in both homers and RBIs.

Braves are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. National League East.
Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves
My reason for the pick :
This will be a highly contested series between the two teams from the NL East division as I predict the Braves will be able to take care of business on the road against the Nationals by winning 2-1, the first two games the Braves should be able to win to on the road, however, in the rubber game the Nationals will be able to pull out a rubber game victory courtesy of Scherzer being on the mound. As the season progresses it seems like the Braves have figured out a way of how to close out games and it will definitely help them in the long run.
The Braves to beat out the Nationals on the road 2-1.
