Pittsburgh Pirates 's Latest Performance :
The Pittsburgh Pirates have won their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-2. Recently, the Pirates would not only win a 3-game home set versus the reeling Washington Nationals on 7-11-2018, but, they would also sweep a 5-game home set against the Brewers on 7-15-2018 to end the 1st half of the season. This momentum would translate into the opener of a 3-game road set versus the Reds as they picked up the 12-1 win on 7-20-2018.

Jordy Mercer (.252 BA on 301 AB) and Josh Bell (.258 BA on 329 AB) have also been solid for Pittsburgh this year at the plate.

Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :
The Cleveland Indians come into this matchup winners of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-1-1. Recently, the Indians would lose a 3-game set versus the Cincinnati Reds on 7-11-2018, yet, would tie a 4-game home set versus the Yankees on 7-15-2018 to enter the All-Star break. They would come off the break getting a 9-8 victory against the Texas Rangers on 7-20-2018.
For the season, the Indians are averaging 5.17 runs per game (3rd) with a team batting average of .257 (8th), 134 homers (3rd) along with 77 stolen bases (2nd). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.03 (17th) with 884 strikeouts (5th), along with 59 quality starts, good for 2nd in the MLB.
Jose Ramirez (.302 BA on 364 AB) and Francisco Lindor (.292 BA on 391 AB) have spearheaded the Indians offensive attack this season. Yonder Alonso (.258 BA on 302 AB) and Edwin Encarnacion (.231 BA on 325 AB) have struggled a bit, yet, continue to be offensive leaders for the Indians. Jason Kipnis (.224 BA on 330 AB) has also struggled thus far in the young season.

How Pittsburgh Pirates & Cleveland Indians Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Pirates are 47-51 ATS while the O/U is 48-44-6. On the other hand, the Indians are 45-51 ATS while the O/U is 51-41-4.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Corey Kluber (12-5) will get the start for Cleveland in game 1 of this series as he will be looking to put behind him a subpar performance at the mound against the Yankees on 7-12-2018 where he pitched 7.1 innings while allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and 2 homers in a 7-4 loss. Kluber has allowed 15 earned runs on 27 hits along with 5 homers in his last 5 starts while the over is 6-1 in his last 7 outings. The Indians are 2-4 in Kluber’s last 6 appearances on the mound. Surprisingly enough, this will be the right-hander’s first crack at taming the up and down lineup for the Pirates, however, Kluber has had experience facing Corey Dickerson (4-12) and David Freese (2-3) in the past. In all, Kluber is 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA with 17 punch outs in his last 3 outings. No other pitchers have been assigned for this series.
Totals Selection: Games 1, 2, &3: Under
My reason for the prediction :
With the pitching staff for the Indians continuing to remain solid throughout the season, despite a few setbacks along the way, along with the Pirates pitching staff surrendering only a total of 17 runs in their last 7 games, I full expect this series to be one where not too many runs will be scored. Combine this with the fact that under has been the play in 7 of the last 11 games for the Pirates, overall, while the over has been the result in 6 of the last 8 games for the Indians, primarily due to its pitching staff being a bit more careless at the mound than usual in recent outings in giving up 45 runs in their last 8 contests. Nonetheless, I expect the Indians to weather this storm while performing well in this series. Again, both teams will come out focused in this all-important interleague showdown thus preventing the total from going over its set number.
