New York Mets vs Pittsburgh Pirates
The New York Mets travel to Pennsylvania Thursday night to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park for a four-game non-divisional showdown. The Pirates are riding the leagues longest win streak at nine games and counting. The last place Mets will have their hands full against the surging Pirates who are chasing the Brewers and Cubs for control of the NL Central.
To kick off the series, Nick Kingham (5-4, 4.11 ERA) will take the mound for Pittsburgh against New York’s Steven Matz (4-8, 3.65 ERA) in game one.
New York Mets's Latest Performance :
The New York Mets are still struggling to find their groove but came off the break swinging at the New York Yankees. Noah Syndergaard who is having a great season going 6-1 with a 2.89 ERA and took out the Yankees on Monday night, is now on the disabled list for a bizarre hand, foot, and mouth disease. That’s not good news for the Mets or Syndergaard for that matter.
Pittsburgh Pirates's Latest Performance :
What is going on in Pittsburgh? They seem unstoppable after dropping five in a row to begin the month of July and are above .500. They rolled into the All=Star break winning and opened the second half of the season by destroying the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game sweep on their own turf.
The Pirates are using all of the tools in the tool belt. Their offense is on fire and the bullpen has provided some depth and closing ability to win them a lot of games. Can they keep the streak alive? Of course. They’re taking on the last place Mets.
