Philadelphia Phillies vs Cincinnati Reds
The Cincinnati Reds play host to the Philadelphia Phillies at Great American Ballpark in a four-game series that begins on Thursday night. The Phillies have moved into a first-place tie with the Atlanta Braves in the NL East while the sputtering Cincinnati Reds are sitting in last place in the NL Central
Right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (4-3, 5.40 ERA) will get the start for Cincinnati against fellow righty Vince Velasquez (5-8, 4.39 ERA) in game one of the series.
Philadelphia Phillies's Latest Performance :
The Philadelphia Phillies were dealt a blow on Sunday when their ace pitcher Edubray Ramos left the game with a knee injury along with his 1.93 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Unfortunatley for the Phillies, he’s been placed on the disabled list for the next ten days. The Phillies had to pull fellow reliever Luis Garcia off of the DL and add him to the roster in place of Ramos.
Cincinnati Reds's Latest Performance :
The Cincinnati Reds came out of the All-Star break only to get swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are not only 13 games away from being a .500 ballclub but are also 15.5 games back behind the first-place Chicago Clubs. They didn’t just lose to Pittsburgh, they were outscored 27-5. That’s telling.
The Reds have lost four in a row and are losing ugly. At some point, they’re going to have to win some games. We’ve seen teams lose a litany of games and then turn it around and reel off several in a row. Let’s see what the Reds have for MLB during this second half of the season.
