Tampa Bay Rays's Latest Performance :

The Rays will be playing on the road for 4 games against the Orioles, it would be a great opportunity for them to improve on their winning record, they are 23-30 when playing on the road this season. The Rays are now in 3rd place of a very tough AL East division. They are coming off a hard-fought series against the Yankees so playing against the Orioles on the road should be an easier matchup for them. The Rays are hoping that they can carry the momentum they have at home on to the road since June 11, the Rays are 16-3 at home the second best record in the Majors just behind the Red Sox. Coming into this series the Rays are 6th in pitching with a 3.40 ERA and 22nd in batting with 421 runs scored this season.

Player to watch in this series: Jake Bauers, he went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, a double, and two runs scored. He was able to score three RBIs against an elite pitcher like Severino that tells you he is capable of playing in the Major since being called up from the Triple-A on June 7. He’s hitting .250 with 28 runs scored, six home runs, 21 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in just 172 plate appearances. He will put up big numbers against the Orioles on the road.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Wilson Ramos (53)
  • Homers: C.J. Cron (19)
  • Batting Average: Matt Duffy (.313)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Ryan Yarbrough, he gave up two runs in four innings and got charged with the loss against the Marlins on Saturday. He falls to 8-5 with a good 3.65 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season, he will return to the mound on Thursday against the Orioles.

Game 2: Chris Archer, he will be coming off a career night where he struck out 13 batters but he had to come out of that start with a no-decision. He is 3-4 on the season and working with a 4.30 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.

Game 3: Hunter Wood, he allowed one run on two hits, with one walk and a pair of strikeouts, over two innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Monday. He has yet to pick up a win the Major since being called up from the Triple-A he will have a great opportunity when he plays the Orioles.

Game 4: Blake Snell, the first time All-Star will close things out for the Rays against the Orioles in the rubber game, he has a 2.27 ERA and 134/47 K/BB ratio over 119 innings across 20 starts this season.

Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :

The Orioles will cap off their 7 game homestand against the Rays in a four-game series. The Orioles have the worst record in the Majors they are 28-73 this season. Since losing Machado to the Dodgers it was clear that the O’s will be focusing on rebuilding the team for the future in the second half of the season. They are on a 4 game losing streak when playing at home they are 16-34. Coming into this series the O’s are 29th in batting with 357 runs scored this season and 28th in pitching with a 4.88 ERA. With Machado gone it will take some time for the Orioles to get used to the scenery change.

Player to watch in this series: Jonathan Schoop, he will have to step for the O’s since Machado departure, in his last outing he went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Red Sox. He’s up to 13 homers and 29 RBI on the season. He must look at his situation on the bright side and use this opportunity for a chance to grow and become a better batter. He is slashing 235/.267/.417 n 342 plate appearances this season.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Adam Jones (37)
  • Homers: Jonathan Schoop (13)
  • Batting Average: Adam Jones (.277)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Alex Cobb, he allowed four runs, one earned in five innings and took a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday. He has a 6.17 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. He’s allowed 17 homers in 18 starts. He will be on the mound on Thursday against the Rays.

Game 2: Andrew Cashner, in his return to the mound he was able to settle for a no-decision after allowing just one run over 5 2/3 frames. He is 2-9 on the season with a 4.56 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.

Game 3: Kevin Gausman, he allowed five runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Monday. He is 4-8 with a 4.54 ERA in 20 starts and will be on the mound Saturday against the Rays.

Game 4: Yefry Ramirez, he will close things off for the Orioles in the rubber game against the Rays. He is still seeking for his first Majors victory. He has a 3.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 24/9 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 innings.

How Tampa Bay Rays & Baltimore Orioles Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Orioles are 15-42 in their last 57 vs. American League East.

Rays are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. American League East.

Against The Spread Selection: Tampa Bay Rays

My reason for the pick :

The Rays will be able to sweep the Orioles on the road despite not playing well on the road this season. The Rays are 4-0 when playing the team in the same division. Playing against the Yankees in their previous series would certainly help them play well because they are coming off a competitive series where high-quality baseball is being played. The O’s will have to wait for their first win in the second half of the season. The Rays will be coming into this series full of confidence as they would want to keep the momentum going against the O’s. At this point of the season, the O’s shouldn’t be really concerned about not winning games because they are already looking ahead into the future while the Rays will make one last push to give themselves a chance of playing in the postseason.

The Rays to sweep the Orioles on the road 4-0.

Betting trends for Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Rays are 2-5 in their last 7 overall.

Betting trends for Baltimore Orioles:

  • Orioles are 18-39 in their last 57 home games.
