Toronto Blue Jays vs Chicago White Sox
The Toronto Blue Jays blow into town on Friday night for a three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field to take on the Chicago White Sox in a non-divisional match-up of fourth-place teams. The White Sox have gone 6-4 in their last ten and on a two-game win streak while the Jays have gone 4-6 in their last ten and have dropped the last two.
Starting on the mound in game one of this series is Reynaldo Lopez (4-8, 4.13 ERA) against fellow righty Marcus Stroman (3-7, 5.42 ERA).
Toronto Blue Jays's Latest Performance :
Toronto claimed the first series 2-1 against the White Sox and have struggled to make a dent in the division. With two of baseball’s elite teams at the top, it’s going to be difficult for any team in the division to make a dent. Especially, the Blue Jays who currently sit 23.5 games back and eight games below .500.
Given the fact that they are out of the playoffs already, the Jays to are looking to deal a healthy list of vets in order to help bolster their roster for next year. On the top of that list is free agent J.A. Happ.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The Chicago White Sox are sitting 18 games back and have a long way to go to ensure a playoff birth. The AL Central has proven to stand out as the worst division in MLB and Chicago has only helped to support that claim. The Sox have been no stranger to trading veterans for young talent in their rebuild and will look to possibly deal a handful of pitchers starting with James Fields who has shown a lot of promise and value despite his not so flashy stats. The bullpen also has a handful of vets that could be dealt that other teams could benefit from.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Blue Jays and White Sox should actually be an interesting series. Neither team has anything to lose and can play loose and have fun. Both are on rebuilding cruise control and looking to fill up their rosters with young talent prior to the impending trade deadline. At this point, it’s more about each team staying out of last place given the Royals and Orioles are considered baseball’s worst teams. Ouch!
