They would go on to tie a 2-game road set versus the Marlins on 7-24-2018 with the finale being a 9-3 win for the fish. They would also play horribly at the mound in the first 2 games of a 4-game home weekend set versus the Los Angeles Dodgers in surrendering 12 runs while the offense has struggled thus far in the series in only plating 3 runs in 2 games.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Braves are 52-49 ATS while the O/U is 51-49-4. On the other hand, the Marlins are 55-50 ATS while the O/U is 56-47-2.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Julio Teheran (7-7) will pull the start for the Braves in the opener looking to atone for his last outing to where he pitched 4.1 innings while allowing 7 runs on 9 hits and 2 homers in a 9-3 road loss to the Marlins on 7-24-2018. Meanwhile, in his prior outing against the Marlins, Teheran lasted only 5 innings while allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and a homer in a 10-9 home win on 5-20-2018. Despite his struggles the last time out, the right-hander is credited with 13 earned runs in his last 5 starts on 21 hits while the team is only 2-4 in his last 6 starts. The under has been the play in 4 of his last 5 starts while he has had trouble with giving up homers lately as he has surrendered 9 in his last 8 outings. Nonetheless, the righty is 1-1 with 14 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.15 in his last 3 games.
Brian Anderson (.600 BA on 5 AB), Justin Bour (.412 BA on 17 AB), Derek Dietrich (.364 BA on 22 AB), Martin Prado (.321 BA on 28 AB), J.T. Realmuto (.273 BA on 22 AB), along with Miguel Rojas (.222 BA on 9 AB) have had much success against Teheran in the past. Starlin Castro (.154 BA on 13 AB), Cameron Maybin (0-5), and JT Riddle (0-4) have struggled against the right-hander lifetime.
Teheran will be opposed by Wei-Yin Chen (3-7) as the lefty seeks to win his second straight outing thanks to his last appearance where he pitched 6 innings while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and a homer in a 9-3 home win over the Braves on 7-24-2018 while in his prior matchup versus the Braves, Chen went 5.1 innings while allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in a tough-luck 10-9 road loss at SunTrust on 5-20-2018. Chen is credited with 12 earned runs on 25 hits in his last 5 games while the team is only 2-4 in his last 6 starts as well. The under was the play in 3 of his last appearances on the mound.
Chen has had mixed results against this Braves lineup in that Ozzie Albies Jr (1-3), Johan Camargo (4-5), Charlie Culberson (.286 BA on 7 AB), Freddie Freeman (.467 BA on 15 AB), Ender Inciarte (.429 BA on 7 AB), and Kurt Suzuki (3-10) have each had some experience and success against the lefty. On the other hand, Ronald Ocuna Jr. (1-5), Tyler Flowers (.182 BA on 11 AB), and Nick Markakis (.154 BA on 13 AB) have struggled against Chen lifetime. Dansby Swanson (0-6) and Preston Tucker (2-3) have also faced Chen in the past for the Braves.
The pitcher for Atlanta has not been named, however, for the Marlins, Dan Straily (4-4) will return to the mound after an outing to which he pitched 5.2 innings while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 homers in a 10-3 home loss to the Washington Nationals on 7-26-2018. In all, Straily has pitched well recently, though, in that he has only been charged with 7 earned runs on 18 hits while the team is 3-3 in his last 3 starts. The over has been the play in his last 3 outings. In his last matchup against the Braves, the right-hander lasted 7 innings while allowing no runs on only 3 hits with 6 strikeouts in a 2-0 road win on 5-18-2018, this coming after a 6-3 home win over Atlanta on 5-11-2018.
Michael Reed (1-2), Nick Markakis (.368 BA on 19 AB), Freddie Freeman (.214 BA on 14 AB), Johan Camargo (.286 BA on 7 AB), Ozzie Albies (4-10), and Kurt Suzuki (4-10) have had a decent amount of success against Straily in the past. Ronald Ocuna Jr. (0-6), Ryan Flaherty (0-1), Tyler Flowers (.143 BA on 7 AB), and Dansby Swanson (.111 BA on 9 AB) have struggled against the righty in their respective careers.

Totals Selection: Games 1, 2, & 3: Over
My reason for the prediction :
Let us go over the stats: The over has been the play in 5 straight along with 7 of the last 8 for the Marlins while being the result in 5 of the last 6 for the Braves. And while the under has been the call in recent outings for the pitchers already named for this series, one must admit that each of these individuals are known to be erratic at times, thus allowing for scoring opportunities for their opponents. Furthermore, the over has been the play in 2 of the last 3 meetings amongst these two teams at SunTrust Park while it has also been the result in 7 of the 9 last meetings, overall. I will certainly be eying the over in that one must speculate that this trend will certainly continue with both pitching staffs giving up a combined 55 runs in their last 7 games. It is for this reason that it can be said that both these struggling offenses will be licking their chops at the plate throughout this series. It simply boils down to the fact that maybe these teams are indeed too familiar with each other’s pitching style; On the other hand, judging by the way in which each have performed lately, it could very well be that both pitching staffs stink at this point in the season and are more prone to giving up runs, altogether. I happen to believe it is both.
