Game 1&2: 7:10 PM ET
Philadelphia Phillies's Latest Performance :
The Phillies will cap off their 6 game road trip against the Red Sox in a 2 game set. The Phillies are leading the NL East division with a record of 58-45 they now have a 2 1/2 game lead over the Braves. The Phillies haven’t been great on the road this season they are 24-27 on the road. Coming into this series the Phillies are 9th in pitching with a 3.83 ERA and 16th in batting with 458 runs scored this season. The Phillies will do all they can to fend off the Braves making a run for the top spot in the division so expect the Phillies to be at their best at Fenway Park.
Player to watch in this series: Asdrubal Cabrera, the Phillies acquired him from the Mets the infielder will bring his veteran leadership to help the young ball club down the stretch. He can play at 2nd or 3rd base over even as a shortstop. The 32-year-old is having a terrific season, slashing .277/.329/.488 with 18 homers and 58 RBI. Veteran leadership is always needed when a team wants to make a run into the postseason. He will have a decent series against the Red Sox on the road.
- RBIs: Rhys Hoskins (67)
- Homers: Rhys Hoskins (20)
- Batting Average: Odubel Herrera (.276)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Aaron Nola, he had his shortest home outing of 2018 last week when he allowed three runs to the Dodgers over five innings. Still, with 12 wins, a 2.42 ERA and an opposing batting average of .199, Nola has been one of baseball’s best starting pitchers. He will bring his 12-3 record to the mound against the Red Sox on Monday.
Game 2: Jake Arrieta, he pitched six innings of three-run ball for a win Wednesday against the Dodgers. He has an 8-6 record on the year with a 3.45 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. He will close things off for the Phillies against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Red Sox have the best record in the Majors they are 72-33 on the season they lead the Yankees by five games and are currently on a 10 game homestand, they are 35-14 when playing at home this season. They will be playing against the Phillies for the first time this season in an interleague matchup. Coming into this series the Red Sox are the best team at batting with 552 runs scored this season. The Red Sox batting lineup depth is one of the best in the league, once they get going from the plate they are very hard to stop. In terms of pitching, they are 4th in the Major with a 3.55 ERA. The Red Sox are looking stronger than ever.
Player to watch in this series: Mookie Betts, he is coming off his first ever walk off of his career. He is having an MVP type season for the Red Sox. Although he hasn’t been performing on the plate after the All-Star break hitting just .214 (6-for-28). I expect him to heat up against the Phillies perhaps the walk-off will boost his confidence on the plate. On the season he is slashing .347/.432/.660 with 24 homers and 53 RBIs.
- RBIs: J.D. Martinez (85)
- Homers: J.D. Martinez (31)

Game 2: Drew Pomeranz, he allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles in his return. He will be looking to bounce back against the Phillies in the rubber game on Tuesday. He continues to work his way back into the rotation after coming back from the disabled list.
How Philadelphia Phillies & Boston Red Sox Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Red Sox are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.
Against The Spread Selection: Series split at 1-1
My reason for the pick :
With both teams leading their respective division this two-game set will go down to the wire. It is fair to say that this series will end in a 1-1 split. Nola will look to bounce back strong on the mound the Red Sox batters will have a tough time cracking his pitches so game 1 will go to the Phillies. However, in game two the Red Sox will remind us why they are the best team when it comes to batting Mookie Betts will have a great second game in the series and show us why he needs to considered as the MVP this season. When two great teams play each other it will all come down to who has a better pitcher on the mound.
The Red Sox and the Phillies split the 2 game series 1-1.
