Cincinnati Reds's Latest Performance :
The Reds will begin their 9 game road trip against the Tigers in a 2 game interleague series. They are coming off an impressive series split against the Phillies. The Reds aren’t having their best season but they have fully committed to rebuilding the team for the future starting pitcher Matt Harvey should be traded before the trade deadline. The Reds are 22-27 when playing on the road this season. Coming into this series the Reds are 25th in pitching with a 4.76 ERA and 9th in batting with 487 runs scored this season.
Player to watch in this series: Joey Votto, he went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. He has a .287 batting average and leads the National League with his .424 on-base percentage. He has just nine home runs on the season it has been a tough season for him and the Reds he is doing all he can to keep the games competitive. He is hoping that he will be able to carry over his impressive batting from the Phillies series on the road with him.

- Batting Average: Scooter Gennett (.317)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Homer Bailey, he struck out eight and allowed only two runs in six innings but took a no-decision in his last start. He is coming off a knee injury so it was great to see him being comfortable on the mound after his injury. He is 1-7 on the year with a 6.29 ERA and 1.63 WHIP he will start in the series opener against the Tigers.
Game 2: Sal Romano, he picked up a win after allowing two runs in six innings Wednesday against the Cardinals. It was his seventh quality start in 20 tries and improved to 6-8 with a 5.07 ERA. He will close things off for the Reds against the Tigers in the rubber game.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Tigers will cap off their 6 game homestand against the Reds in a 2 game set. They are currently in 3rd place of the AL Central division. They are 27-26 when playing at home this season the chances of the Tigers making the postseason is very slim because they are 12 1/2 back of the leader the Indians although they were able to avoid getting swept at home by winning the second game in the 3 game set. Coming into this series the Tigers are 25th in batting with 412 runs scored this season and 21st in pitching with a 4.42 ERA.
Player to watch in this series: Nicholas Castellanos, he leads the team in RBI, homers and batting average. He is the only Tiger batter having a good season, and he is having a fantastic season despite the lack of support around him in the batting order. He has a .294/.347/.500 slash line with 15 home runs, 57 RBI and 57 runs scored in 102 games. Expect him to have a good series against the Reds at home he will have the opportunity to showcase his batting skills in front of his home fans.
- RBIs: Nicholas Castellanos (57)
- Homers: Nicholas Castellanos (15)
- Batting Average: Nicholas Castellanos (.294)
Probable Pitchers for this series:
Game 1: Matt Boyd, he gave up seven hits and two runs over six innings Wednesday in the Tigers’ victory over the Royals. He was able to snap a seven-start winless streak with that win. He has a 5-9 record with a 4.53 and 1.20 WHIP.
Game 2: Mike Fiers, he gave up three runs on five hits over six frames in a no-decision against the Indians. It was his sixth straight quality start. He has a 3.54 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 86/26 K/BB ratio over 117 innings. He will be back on the mound on Wednesday.
How Cincinnati Reds & Detroit Tigers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Tigers are 17-35 in their last 52 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Reds are 8-3 in their last 11 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Against The Spread Selection: Series split at 1-1
My reason for the pick :
Both teams were able to steal a game against a playoff team, however, the outcome of this series will end up in a 1-1 split as the two teams are equally matched at this point of the season. It is a fair result for both teams since both team chances of making the postseason seem slim since we are already 102 games into the season already. Both the Tigers and the Reds have a bright future ahead of them they have players that they can build around for the Reds its Gennett and for the Tigers its Castellanos. The rebuilding process takes time there are no shortcuts. Winning isn’t the only thing sometimes it great to sacrifice short-term losses for long-term gains. That is the mentality both teams must have heading into this interleague series.
Tigers and Red split the series 1-1.
