Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Kansas City Royals vs Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox play host to the visiting Kansas City Royals in the Windy City Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field for a three-game summer series in the AL Central. These two teams meet for the fourth time this season as both are in the midst of major roster overhauls and massive rebuilds after the start of disappointing seasons.
Right-hander James Shields (4-12, 4.53 ERA) will take the mound to start the series against Royals lefty Danny Duffy (6-9, 4.70 ERA).
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Kansas City Royals are basically in the same boat. Their only competition this season is trying to win enough games to stay ahead of the equally terrible Baltimore Orioles and avoid being crowned the worst team in baseball at the end of the season. With that honor, of course, comes higher draft picks and hopefully some salary space which they could greatly benefit from. Teams will never admit to tanking at the end of the season, but we all know it happens so don’t be surprised if they don’t lose their last several.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The Chicago White Sox have spent the season scratching their heads and making moves dealing reliever Joakim Soria to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for a pair of prospects and cash considerations. In a rebuilding year, they need all the acquisitions they can get. Although they have shown signs of greatness, like their six-run eighth inning to beat the Blue Jays on Saturday night, the losses far outweigh the wins. Sitting 19.5 games back, the playoffs are a season or two away.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The White Sox and Royals match-up fairly well in this series given they are occupying the fourth and fifth spots respectively in the AL Central and out of playoff contention. The White Sox have dominated the three previous series and are on a one-game win streak. Both teams are 5-5 in their last 10 games, but the Sox are five games ahead of the last place Royals and not looking to relinquish that spot anytime soon.
