New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox
The first-place Boston Red Sox host the New York Yankees at Fenway Park in a four-game series that kicks off on Thursday night. It’s two of baseball’s best battling for the bragging rights and title of the coveted AL East. The playoffs are a lock for both teams, but only time will tell who comes out on top at seasons end.
Starter Chris Sale (11-4, 2.04 ERA) will take the mound for the Red Sox and will face Yankee ace Luis Severino (14-4, 2.94 ERA) to begin this hotly contested match-up.
New York Yankees's Latest Performance :
The New York Yankees are 5.5 games back and looking for ways to gain some momentum and close the gap. Unfortunately, going 5-5 in their last ten doesn’t help anyone. Granted they won their last two and head into the series with some confidence, they are playing their main division rivals. That means lots of pressure on the Yankees to win.
There’s no doubt they are looking to acquire a couple of starting pitchers to strengthen a weak spot for the team and Tampa Bay Rays ace Chris Archer might be one of them. It’s probably the difference between the world series and a playoff exit.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Boston Red Sox are doing everything right this season. They are the best team in all of Major League Baseball and are 5.5 games up on the Yankees. Winners of their last three and 7-3 in their last ten, all they have to do is play like they are the rest of the season and they’ll take the East.
As the trade deadline nears, the word is that the Red Sox have cast an extremely wide net to capture some bullpen help according to president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
If only these two teams could play for the World Series. It would be a heck of a match-up. They have traded blows in all of the previous series this season with no one team dominating the other. Boston has proven to be the better team this season, but the Yankees aren’t far behind. If they can pull off a couple of trades before the deadline and improve their pitching staff, skies the limit. There are too many All-Stars to mention as both teams are loaded. Expect a playoff worthy series.
