Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :

The Marlins will cap off their six-game homestand against the Mets in a three-game set. The Marlins are back in the last place of the NL East division. They are 27-32 when playing at home this season. It is tough for the Marlins to turn things around late into the season, however, playing against the Mets would their fans a glimpse of the future and how good the players can be once they are fully developed. Coming into this series the Marlins are 26th in pitching with a 4.80 ERA and 27th in scoring with 430 runs scored this season.

Player to watch in this series: Derek Dietrich, he went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday’s loss to the Cardinals. He will have to be at his best for the Marlins to beat out the Mets at home. He has nine hits in 22 at-bats in August. It was unfortunate that he did not get traded at the deadline but he could use this opportunity with the Marlins to work on his craft and wait until the next opportunity comes up. Against The Spread Selection: New York Mets

My reason for the pick :

The Mets will beat out the Marlins on the road 2-1. When two teams at the bottom of the division play each other it is usually the team with the better pitcher that will come up on top. Wheeler and Syndergaard will put up a masterful pitching performance for the Mets. The Mets are struggling on the offensive end, however, the Marlins are as well. It has been a forgettable season for both franchises as they will look to build for the future and hope for better results.

The Mets to beat the Marlins on the road 2-1.
