St. Louis Cardinals vs Kansas City Royals
It’s a Show Me State showdown as the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Kansas City Royals for a three-game series starting Friday night at Ewing Kaufman Stadium. It’s been a tough road for the Royals this season and won’t be getting any better anytime soon. The Cardinals are in the playoff hunt laying about six games back from second place in the NL Central. The first meeting kicked off with the Royals blanking the Cards 6-0 before succumbing to two consecutive losses in the series. This is always a battle no matter what the records are. It’s Missouri bragging rights for god sakes.
St. Louis Cardinals's Latest Performance :
The St. Louis Cardinals are fighting for a shot at a playoff spot and are playing decent ball. They’ve gone 6-4 in their last ten and are on a one-game losing streak. They continue to make tweaks even after the deadline in an effort to improve. They acquired pitcher Tyson Ross off waivers after the San Diego Padres cut him lose and is expected to be in the bullpen immediately. Ross replaced reliever John Brebbia who was sent to Triple-A Memphis and was 6-9 with a 4.45 ERA in 22 starts for San Diego.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Kansas City Royals are looking ahead to next year and beyond. They’ve acquired a number of prospects and draft picks to help bring the team back to prominence. They’re only a handful of years removed from a World Series win in 2015. They’ve only won three of their last ten and have dropped five straight. Times are tough and this season was over before it started, but after trading one of the last of the stars from the championship team in Moustakas, it’s time for a fresh start with a new team.

Every time these two teams line up against each other, it’s like 1985 all over again. Both teams couldn’t be any further from that World Series that’s for sure. The Cardinals and Royals are a match-up that is always worth watching. No matter the situation nor the records, these teams are going to go after it no matter what.
