Chicago White Sox vs Detroit Tigers
It’s an AL Central match-up as the Detroit Tigers invade Comerica Park for a three-game series starting on Monday night against the Chicago White Sox. These two rivals have had some epic battles this season with Detroit dominating the last three series this season. With a number of losses between them, neither team is playing well coming into this showdown and are looking to turn things around quickly.
On the Mound for the home team Chicago White Sox will be RHP Jacob Turner (0-1, 20.25 ERA) against Detroit’s RHP Reynaldo Lopez (4-9, 4.30 ERA) to kick off the series.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The Detroit Tigers are not playing well. They’ve dropped six in a row and can’t seem to get out of their slump after going 3-7 in their last ten. They now sit 6.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins for second place and are en route to missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. Ron Gardenhire was brought in to make some changes and turn things around after former manager Brad Ausmus was fired after last season. By the look of things, not much has changed other than the Tigers will probably finish fourth (up from fifth a year ago) and limp into the offseason.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Chicago White Sox currently sit in fourth place in the AL Central and are 23 games back. They’ve dropped three in a row and have gone 4-6 in their last ten. They’ve managed to stay ahead of the Royals and avoid last place, but they haven’t done much to gain any ground on the Tigers even when Detroit is struggling.
It’s unfortunate that Sox players haven’t jumped on the Jose Abreu bandwagon. He’s an All-Star first baseman who has turned things around in August after a slumping June/July and making some adjustments to become one of MLB’s most dangerous hitters.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
These two teams are typically a solid match-up throughout the season. However, the Detroit Tigers seem to have Chicago’s number this year. The White Sox haven’t won a series yet going 0-3 to date. It’s not that Detroit is really that much better, it’s that the Sox just haven’t played all that well against their division foes. The first time they clashed this season back in April, the Tigers swept them 3-0. Then they were swept again in June. Out of the nine games they’ve played, Chicago has won only one of those games.
