The San Deigo Padres will kick off game one of the series with pitcher Clayton Richards (7-10, 5.13 ERA) on the mound against Angels starting pitcher Andrew Heaney (7-7, 3.96 ERA).
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
The Los Angeles Angels have suffered several key injuries this season but received some good news this week that their superstar Shohei Ohtani will be throwing in the bullpen on Saturday for the first time since June 6th. He provided some excitement for fans out of the gate this season but his injury sent them into a tailspin. To make matters worse, one of baseball’s best, Mike Trout, has missed the last five games with a right wrist injury. He’s been chewing up and spitting out MLB pitchers all season. The team needs him back not only for his offense but to provide a spark to get the team back on track.
San Diego Padres's Latest Performance :
The San Diego Padres managed to stop their seven-game losing streak by beating the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 2nd and followed it up with a series win over the Milwaukee Brewers. They’ve gone 4-6 in their last ten and have had a dismal season but Hunter Renfroe has provided a much needed offensive spark. He blasted a grand slam against the Brewers and has managed to homers in four straight games.
Padres manager Andy Green attributes the handful of wins against MLB’s top teams to guys just saying, “enough is enough.” Better late than never when you’re sitting in last place.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Angels and Padres are both struggling and in need of some wins. The Padres have been known to show up in big games this season but can’t remain consistent enough to slip out of last place. The Angels will undoubtedly have their hands full with the Padres. With a string of injuries and some rocky play, the Angel players will need to step it up if they want to take this series and close the gap between them and the third-place Seattle Mariners. With a healthy list of top prospects in Triple-A waiting for the call, the Angels aren’t far from turning things around this season.
