Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees

The Yankees will welcome the Rays to Yankee Stadium as the two teams from the AL East will go head to head in a three-game series starting on Tuesday. The Yankees are in the second place of the division while the Rays are in third. This will be their fifth meeting of the season the season series is currently tied at 2-2.

Game 1-2: 7:05 PM ET

Game 3: 1:05 PM ET

Tampa Bay Rays's Latest Performance :

The Rays are currently on a nine-game road trip as they will take on the Yankees in a three-game set. The Rays are not a great road team this season they are 26-33 when playing away from home. They have won three games straight. The Rays are nine games behind the A’s for the last spot for the Wild Card. Coming into this series the Rays are 13th in pitching with a 3.85 ERA and 22nd in batting with 491 runs scored this season. Since the All-Star break, the Rays have led the league in stolen bases with 19. If the batter hits a single and the outfielder fails to make a solid catch the Rays base players are taking off.

Player to watch in this series: Willy Adames, he went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday’s win over the Blue Jays. The stolen base was his fourth in 44 games, and the rookie shortstop is hitting .243/.292/.372 in 44 games played. The Rays future is bright with Adames leading the way at the shortstop position.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: C.J. Cron (56)
  • Homers: C.J. Cron (22)
  • Batting Average: Matt Duffy (.301)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: Jalen Beeks, he will be looking for his second Major win against a tough matchup against the Yankees on the road on Tuesday. He has a 9.15 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through two starts.

Game 2: Yonny Chirinos, he allowed a run over five innings of relief Thursday against the Orioles, earning his first career win. he has a 3.50 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 43/14 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings. He will be on the mound on Wednesday against the Yankees.

Game 3: Blake Snell, he had six strikeouts over five perfect innings in his last start. He will close things out for the Rays against the Yankees in the rubber game on Thursday. He is 13-5 with a 2.08 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 22 starts.

New York Yankees's Latest Performance :

The Yankees are currently on a ten game homestand as they will take on division rivals the Rays in a three-game set. The Yankees are 40-17 when playing at home this season. The Yankees have acquired quality starting pitchers such as Happ from the Blue Jays and Lynn from the Twins. They will help the Yankees during their playoffs run this season. The Yankees have a tough time matching up against the Rays this season perhaps their new starting pitchers can change the outcome in these three games, the Yankees have won five of their last six games. Coming into this series the Yankees are second in batting with 596 runs scored this season and fifth in pitching with a 3.70 ERA.

Player to watch in this series: Miguel Andujar, he struck a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning on Saturday leading the Yankees in a victory over the Rangers. He is slashing .296/.329/.511 with 17 homers and 55 RBI on the season. He should be squarely in the conversation for AL Rookie of the Year when it’s all said and done. I expect him to have a good series against the Rays at home.

Team leaders:

  • RBIs: Giancarlo Stanton (75)
  • Homers: Giancarlo Stanton (29)
  • Batting Average: Miguel Andujar (.296)

Probable Pitchers for this series:

Game 1: J.A. Happ, he struck out nine over six innings, limiting the Rangers to three runs in a win Thursday. He has a 4.07 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 141/37 K/BB ratio. He will return to the mound in the series opener on Tuesday against the Rays.

Game 2: Masahiro Tanaka, he allowed six runs and three homers in five innings in a loss to the Rangers on Friday. He will look to redeem himself when he brings a 4.08 ERA and 1.10 WHIP to the mound on Wednesday.

Game 3: Lance Lynn, he had eight strikeouts in his last start for the Yankees allowing just one run on five hits over his five innings of work. He has a 4.46 ERA and 1.54 WHIP on the season. He will close things out for the Yankees against the Rays on Thursday.

How Tampa Bay Rays & New York Yankees Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Yankees are 37-17 in their last 54 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Rays are 20-6 in their last 26 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Against The Spread Selection: New York Yankees

My reason for the pick :

The Yankees should be able to take care of business at home as they will take down the Rays 2-1 in the three-game series. It will be a good rookie matchup between Adames and Andujar. The Yankees hardly lose at home so I expect that trend to continue against the Rays. It is clear in the standings that the Yankees will take second place in the AL East division and take the number one spot in the Wild Card standings. The Yankees are still missing hard hitter Aaron Judge he is expected to return in three weeks. Stanton should carry the offensive load for the Yankees in this series as he homered in three of his last four games. The Yankees are much-improved pitching team when they starting the season expect Japp and Lynn to have great pitching games against the Rays at home.

The Yankees to beat out the Rays at home 2-1.

Betting trends for Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Rays are 8-20 in their last 28 road games.

Betting trends for New York Yankees:

  • Yankees are 59-20 in their last 79 home games.
