Cleveland Indians vs Boston Red Sox
The mighty Boston Red Sox welcome the first place Cleveland Indians to famous Fenway Park for a mid-August four-game battle of baseballs best on Monday Night. They combine for 157 wins in MLB this season and aren’t done just yet. This is meeting #1 of two and it is sure to bring about a playoff atmosphere. These two teams met around this time last year in a four-game series which they split right down the middle.
On the mound for the Boston Red Sox will be wicked righty Rick Porcello (15-5, 4.04 ERA) against Cleveland star Corey Kluber (15-6, 2.68 ERA).
Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :
The Cleveland Indians have reeled off six wins and are in contention. They will obviously have their hands full should they cross paths with the Red Sox in the postseason but first things first. They have a regular season to contend with. The Indians have a couple of big hitters on their team as well in Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez who just blasted his 37th homer Friday night. They have solid pitching as well but were dealt a blow when their leading AL Cy Young Award candidate was sidelined with a stress fracture in his right leg. An injury that will keep him out four to six weeks.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Boston Red Sox are having a stellar year. They have won 8 out of their last 10 and have gone 12-2 this month. It doesn’t get much better than that. They possess some of the best pitching in baseball and a line-up of feared hitters that are having Hall of Fame seasons. Mookie Betts and JD Martinez are the leagues best tandem and a couple of the most feared at the plate. To solidify the team’s greatness, even their Triple-A team is getting an upgrade to an $86M ballpark in Worcester so they can keep churning out All-Stars.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This is a classic AL East vs. AL Central match-up. Both teams sit in first place but the Red Sox are on a different planet. They are clearly the best team in baseball and are the odds-on favorite to win it all this year over the current champs the Houston Astros. The Indians play in arguably the worst division in MLB and play several mediocre teams throughout the season. Albeit they are on a six-game win streak and have won 8 out of their last ten games. That’s not an easy feat no matter what division your playing in. It will be a true test for the Indians and a good measuring stick as they head towards the playoffs.
